Alex is an amazing hair stylist! Now only is she super nice, but she got my color exactly how I imagined it. She also did a keratin treatment on my very coarse, dry, and often unruly hair and now it’s shiny, smoother, and way more manageable! I love it. It behaves now!

Critical: QualityKristi was very nice but she does not do well with a balayage. I asked for a balayage, showed her a picture of my hair from a year ago, and asked for a nice face framing. She couldn’t gauge for the color I showed her that I wanted. I ended up going home with bright brassy hair. I asked to go back the next day but she couldn’t take me in until 1.5 weeks from my original appointment. Even then, when I went in for the second appointment, she still didn’t get my color right. She had to put toner in a third time but she had a client lined up already so I ended up having to go home and washing the toner off myself. The face framing that she did was not a face framing at all. It looked like highlights all over my bangs. She’s really not a good colorist at all. Alex does the best color on the Island. I was a blonde and letting my hair grow out to my natural. Silver. She did partial highlights and toned my ends to make my long hair a beautiful color. Great stylist. The salon is a hidden gem. I found it upscale and reminded me of being in a mainland Salon. I highly recommend.

Best place for hair on the island, and the excellence comes from the owner, Anszil. She’s being doing the hair for everyone I know for years, and people plan their visits to the Big Island around when they can get in to see her. She is excellent, does exactly as you ask, and makes suggestions that always improve your look! Lovely atmosphere in the salon, and the beautician is excellent, too. To echo what others have said, book well ahead of time. And, if you are calling the salon direct, be aware that they may take a few days to come back to you, as they are always busy. But they will get back to you and it is always well worth the wait!

Alex at Santosha Salon in Hilo fixed my hair massacre. (Shame on me for my botched box color/bleach mishap). She was super professional and friendly, got me fixed up after going through pages and pages of pictures to get my desired shade and fade. It didn’t take nearly as long as other salons I’ve been to, and not once did she push products on me to purchase as so many other salons do. I’m ready for my business trip with a fresh cut and color!
