Awesome coloring service done by Sheri! I had an appointment at a different salon which got unexpected canceled on me. Aveda was able to take me in as a walk-in to highlight and color my hair. They were amazing and Sheri was very knowledgeable about their products. I was extremely satisfied and felt like a VIP!

Critical: Professionalism, PunctualityI walked out before even getting my hair done.The ladies I spoke to on the phone when I was making my appointment were super sweet, but that may be the only positive I have.The salon itself is super hard to find tucked in the back corner of Dillards. Which should’ve been the first red flag. It is also very old school looking.There was no receptionist. I arrived on time and I stood there for 10 min before anyone noticed me. One lady was cutting someone’s hair and from afar I think she told me to go sit and wait (but I could barely understand her). I went and sat in a room for 20 min and no one came in to update me or check in and let me know how much longer it would be. After 30 minutes of sitting in that room and long past my appointment time, I walked out and told them to please cancel my appointment. I was hesitant to get my hair done in a Dillard’s salon I had heard of Aveda Salons before and thought pricey! Melinda is the most professional, attentive stylist I have ever had she took time to explain what color and highlights and put test color to see if I was happy with the choices we made she makes reasonable recommendations that you do not have to break the bank when you leave. I had never had a stylist that goes to the lengths that Melinda does to make her clients feel beautiful !! I highly recommend

Critical: Quality, ValueI want to start out by saying that everyone I interacted with at this salon was very kind and professional. The salon seemed clean and they followed all COVID guidelines. I got a haircut and botanical treatment (Aveda’s version of Olaplex) on Monday, October 19th with Jon. I’m very happy with the botanical treatment – my hair feels super smooth, soft and healthy. I paid $79 total, which included a $10 tip.Unfortunately the positives of my experience are completely overshadowed by the worst haircut I have ever received by a professional. As you can see by the attached photo, my hair is extremely uneven and the end result is just unacceptable. I knew it was going to be bad based on my experience during the haircut (detailed below), but I couldn’t see the full extent until I had washed and dried it myself, as the stylist put waves in my hair (at my request) which hid a lot of the unevenness.The stylist Jon used a wide tooth comb to cut my hair, which I have never seen before. He physically pat down my wet hair with his hands into the comb to make his cuts. When he was cutting the front sections of my hair, he had me physically turn my head to look over each shoulder as he cut the sections – another thing I’ve never seen done at a professional haircut. He cut the back section first, then in a circle around my head, and when he completed the initial cut, there was about a 1.5-2 inch difference in the lengths of the front sections of my hair. He did not compare these two sections prior to making the final cuts. At this point I was terrified that my hair was going to be totally unsalvageable, so I had him only cut the front pieces of the longer side to frame my face at a somewhat similar length, (he used his wide tooth comb to observe the angle my hair made at the shorter side and then walked over to the other side of my head and made a similar angle with his wide tooth comb to make that cut) and then had him put waves in.Again, I want to say that everyone was very kind, including Jon the stylist. I think either he must have been brand new (I was afraid to ask honestly) or maybe he usually does mens haircuts? Either way, this salon needs to be doing better evaluations of the quality of work from their stylists, and maybe invest in some further education.I’m getting my hair fixed by my regular stylist at a different salon next month as she is the only person I trust to touch my hair at this point.***SAME DAY UPDATE***A few hours after I posted this review, Melinda from the salon did reach out to me via phone. She was extremely kind and apologetic and offered to have me come in and personally fix my hair and receive another botanical treatment, free of charge, within the next 6 months. I do plan on taking advantage of the botanical treatment in a few months as I was happy with that service, but as stated above, I definitely want my regular stylist at my regular salon to be the one fixing the haircut. Melinda did my hair and she is AMAZING!!!!! I have never left a salon so happy. 3 days later my hair still looked beautifully styled. My hair even looked beautiful with all the humidity after she styled it. I can not wait to go back. She is such a lovely person and wonderful to speak too. Melinda is surely one in a million.
