I think Dave’s is the best barbershop in the Greater Danbury area. Highly skilled barbers. Comfortable environment, clean, sports-themed. I went to three other local barbershops before Dave’s. The service and skill at Dave’s is considerably above the other shops I went. Very grateful to have a barbershop like Dave’s in the community.

Critical: Professionalism, PunctualityArrived at my appointment only to wait an extra 15 minutes. I did not schedule an appointment for my second child but was told they can do him as well. Anyway, the barber did not listen to a word I said and gave my child whatever haircut he wanted!! It was not what I asked for. Meanwhile, my second son (the one without an appointment) we were waiting to be seen. At this point, there was three separate barbers completely free (no oNe in their chair) and refused to cut my child’s hair. The receptionist came over twice and said “someone will be with you soon” we waited over an hour and no one helped us! They were not busy and again three barbers were just sitting, eating or playing on their phone. This is totally unacceptable! I wasn’t asking for a FREE haircut I am a paying customer! I understand I didn’t have any appointment but I should have been told sorry we can’t do the second one instead of making me wait over an hour! Dave and the barbers do an excellent job. I cannot recommend them enough. Cesar is my primary barber. His professionalism and skill really shines with his buzzer blade and clippers. his scheduling is consistent. I rarely have to wait when I schedule in advance. I like going on slow days l like Tuesday and Wednesday’s to avoid the weekend rush.

Critical: ProfessionalismIt was supposed to be my third time going to Dave’s barbershop. I got my last hair cut on January 30th 2021 by Anthony. So before leaving, in front of all other clients, Dave the owner embarrassed me by asking me a a loud voice to set another appointment right there and than. ( I don’t have a set hour job, my job is always on call with that being said I never know my schedule couple weeks ahead). From the embarrassment I did not know what to say and I set another appointment for February 10,2021 right before valentines. So I asked him what is the earliest I can come and Dave said 8am is good. So long story short I got the 8:00 am appointment for the 10th. That same day I call at 7:30am to let them know I will run late no one answers. Someone called me back at 8:20 and asked where I am? I told the lady that I can’t come at 8 I can come anytime after 10am. I DID NOT CANCEL JUST POSTPONED FOR TGE SAME DAY. so she tells me that for the same guy 12:15 is available and I agreed. 2 minutes later she called me and saying that I will have to pay $20 extra because I did not come at 8:00 am. The barber came at 8:00 special for me since they only open at 9:00am.Let’s put it straight I never asked them to accept me outside of business hours, I asked what is the earliest and they told me 8am. Now I never canceled I just moved it forward and same guy was available later on. So it’s not like he was all booked out and I took business away from him. I tried to explain to Dave that it doesn’t make sense and I am your costumer but a one timer. He refused to do anything about it and still requested the $20. I drove by that day and dropped off $20 and just walked away. I would never go back there again and will not recommend anyone. Since when making a haircut appointment is so stressful. If you make an appointment with Dave barbershop weeks ahead you can’t let anything happen to you because we are not human we got to bind to Mr Dave’s appointment. Next time you make an appointment make sure you don’t get stock in traffic it might coast you. AGAIN WORSE COSTUMER SERVICE THIER COSTUMER SATISFACTION IS NOT THE PRIORITY.As per Dave’s respond: first there is no sign or anything that shows this policy.Second when I was late the first time you could of inform me about the policy.And third I DID NOT CANCEL I just postponed for the same day with the same guy. Great barbershop. I got my haircut by three different barbers there as a walk-in and 2 out of the 3 were great. I’ve never had to wait as a walk-in even if the waiting area was full. Seems like most people schedule appointments or have a preferred barber. So, if you’re looking for a quick cut and aren’t picky about who does it then you shouldn’t have a problem getting in as they always seem very well staffed.

Critical: Professionalism, QualityI used to go here every 3 weeks when my regular barber (who was booked solid at for several days in his new shop) still worked there.I decided to give Dave’s another shot since I hadn’t had a bad experience before.Yesterday I made a 1230 appt w one barber I had gone to there a few times. Later in the evening, they reached out to ask if I’d be willing to come at 12 instead. In the moment that seemed like no big deal. As a General Manager myself, I understand the struggles of customer service, so I always try to be an accommodating customer. so I agreed.The next morning, I was quickly reminded of all of the reasons I’d made that 1230 appt. I do not like being late, and I hustled to get it all done. I ended up falling short – by about ten min.I called to let them know this, and from the first word w the receptionist, all I can hear is the barber I had the appt with in the background talking about “someone’s coming at 1230 so I’ll have to just go to someone else”.I wanted so badly to just roll with this but it really got under my skin. I had to remind them that I WAS THE 1230… there WAS a reason I booked that appt…. AND I accommodated THEIR needs when I allowed it to be changed. put a lot of effort into coming as close as I had to that time.After I reminded them of this, I hear him again in the background….btw bring out on speaker phone in a busy shop to essentially defend myself made it really challenging to keep my cool, but I did.Anyway … now he’s now all in on reminding me that 12pm was my new committed time. He did a great job of making it clear that none of these factors would make it ok to have “Mr 1230” wait ten minutes, so my ten minute delay would not be acceptable to him.ISo I let them know that I would give them back all the time they needed for “mr 1230”, because it had been made very clear how much more important his needs are than mine.They went all in on one customer. With this approach, they would never have seen this as an opportunity to possibly RECAPTURE me- they just needed to do great work and give great service. Failure to do one prevented the other from even happening.The potential of what could have been – can never be known.And now all past examples of solid service that brought me to consider returning ,have been replaced due to this exchange, and the sloppy, unprofessional, and ultimately irresponsible way the receptionists and this barber prioritized one customers experience over mine.Instead those past examples are now 100% credited to my regular barber, and the competing shop he works in.Dave & Co- You may want to remind yourselves every day what a gift each customer truly is.
