Being homebound can limit your life in so many ways. For those who are immunocompromised, a simple trip to the doctor may introduce unnecessary risk. You need someone who can come to you, in a safe environment. You may also feel overwhelmed by leaving your home for medical treatments. In today’s environment, it’s common for anxiety to strike or for situations to seem more stressful than usual, making wellness and self-care even more important yet more difficult to achieve. In 2017, Twelve Twenty-Eight Mobile Medical Wellness was started to create a unique experience for patients that were homebound or going through immunosuppressive therapy.

I recently trained with Dr. Joni and cannot express how thankful I am that I signed up for such an experience. Her training included didactics, which was a lot to digest in a short amount of time, but she goes over the material many times and applies it via different modalities, such as on the board, on a doll, on you/her AND on another patient. No exaggeration – you literally walk out with at least 5 faces you’ve worked on in 3 days. I felt confident by day 3 and was excited to fly home and start working on some faces!
