The Solan has great Stylist and they are very attentive to all patrons entering the door. The Stylist are quite skilled with caring for and styling natural hair. They are also highly skilled with converting your natural curls to a straight hair style look without damaging your natural curl pattern. The Stylist use a product that is not purchased off the shelf. You can purchase the products from the Stylist or the Solan itself. Lack of product availability is the top draw back to purchasing the products from the Solan itself. Great layout of the Salon. If you are natural, this is a great resource to have in your tool box for Stylist location and product backup. The products work great if you can purchase them in store or online. I have provided 2 pictures of the result of single strand twist and pictures if the product promoting my natural curl pattern.

The owner, Karen Hill styled her hair, but also felt the need to mock her. Since my daughter is still a student, I help pay for her hair services and you can imagine my surprise when she communicated to me how rude the owner was.

I’m disappointed with the fact that Karen claimed to have 35+ years of experience, yet, once my hair was straightened she did not know how to do a v-cut to my hair. It was very choppy and poorly done. Then once I wanted to wear it curly, she placed mousse in my hair incorrectly so my curls came weirdly bad so once I got home I immediately washed it off and had to fix it. She also seemed to have a slight attitude when discussing how to do my hair and make her job a little easier. My hair is a mixture between 3b and 3c might I add. The only thing she done right was getting rid of my dead ends and making it shorter which honestly wasn’t that impressive. It seems to be she knows how to deal with much kinkier and more coily hair which isn’t inherently a bad thing but I do not think she can do those hair types similar to mine.
