My experience with getting my 3D scan at Smile Direct Club was fantastic! I really didn’t know what to expect. My husband and I had a hard time finding the building, but that was just because we’re not familiar with the area. Arriyah, my SmileGuide, was friendly and knowledgeable, as was the rest of the staff. The building itself is incredibly beautiful and modern, and everything was obviously cleaned and sanitized. The scan itself was quick and easy and it was SO cool to see my teeth perfectly modeled in 3D on the screen. She even had me take pictures of the screen so I’ll have it as an ‘after’, which I’ve included here. I can’t wait to get started on my smile journey!

If I could choose zero stars I would. My experience was infuriating. I had an appointment for the Grand Rapids shop in Suite 200 at 11:30am. I drove to Grand Rapids, paid for parking and I arrived 10 minutes early and notified the shop that I had arrived. I thought it was weird no one was inside, and the doors were locked. I received an appointment reminder at 8:08am via email, and 8:21am via text. I was never notified of my appointment being cancelled. They could notify me about a reminder, but not a cancellation. After waiting 15 minutes I called the help line and they informed me the shop was closed today due to “unforeseen circumstances,” so why couldn’t I be notified? I’m glad I had my mom with me, I didn’t feel safe as a homeless man was heckling us right outside the shop on the second floor, I felt confused, and feel as though the situation was a scam. We didn’t feel safe and it felt sketchy so we went outside and I continued to make calls. Shorty after I received a text from Karen saying that I missed my appointment. When you miss your appointment it is a $25 no-show fee. I received an email at 1:06pm that said “Reschedule now to avoid a $25 no-show fee.” I didn’t miss my appointment. Smile Direct Club missed my appointment, I was there, waiting, wasting my time. I showed up and they did not. This no-show is completely on them and I refuse to pay a no-show fee.

I was able to schedule my FREE 3D scan the next day. Everyone was so nice, instructions to find the place were easy to follow. However, the main deciding factor for me, is affordability of the treatment. The scans are made and then sent to the orthodontist or dentist. Once they review and come up with a treatment plan, they automatically send you a box before reviewing it with you. You are expected to give them your payment information at your 3D scan. I really wish there was a way to say, “Yes, I am ok with that treatment plan, let’s move forward” instead of a payment being automatically taken out. I want to research my options and be able to work alongside the orthodontist, but I don’t feel like I’m able to. I will probably call to cancel before any payment is taken from me.

What an incredible experience thanks to the staff at Smile Direct Club in GR!!! We were greeted with the warmest welcome from Eden and the office was beautiful! After the dental scanning, Arriyah walked us through the entire process and did a fabulous job laying out what we should expect. My daughter and I felt like we were important and not a waste of their time. We’ve been to someone local to look into Invisalign and the orthodontist spent five minutes with us and talked so fast we could hardly understand him. Definitely recommend this location and their staff!

The visit to Smile Direct Club in Grand Rapids was a little strained. I realize the salespeople were trying to make a connection with all the little chit chat, but telling my father that “I thought about going to trade school” to be like him (an electrician) seemed disingenuous after clamboring to point out that she went to WMU like my mother.
