I received a great massage from Scott and I followed his recommendation to return for a second deep tissue massage. An appointment was scheduled at that time, and i also referred two friends. I was notified the day before the appointment that Scott left to pursue employment opportunities closer to his home. i then rescheduled the appointment with Jason. Again, I was notified the day before that appointment that he was out of town for the Thanksgiving holidays and was experiencing car problems. Looking back at the reviews, there has been a history of scheduling problems. Therefore, I will not return and told my friends not to patronize this business.

Jason, I appreciate your flexibility in rescheduling my original appointment when I had an emergency. I was truly excited and looking forward to getting a much needed relaxing massage, but you really disappointed me. My interaction with you in person when I came for my appointment yesterday was rather unfortunate and left me wondering how you will survive in this business. I’m no expert, but If you expect your business to thrive, please be more presentable and professional. Work on customer service and get a working phone number so that your customers can reach you when they call. I was extremely disappointed and frustrated by you cancelling my rescheduled appointment even though I arrived early and tried multiple times to reach you. I left multiple messages and for you to tell me you have to cancel my appointment was very upsetting. I called Groupon and they refunded my money and I also gave them feedback. Not sure what difference that would make but I hope you read this and take something away from it. Good luck!

I had the worst massage experience of my life at “Calming Renewal” last weekend. I got a Groupon and didn’t realize until I got there that this place is just a one man show. I found parking and finally found the building since there was no signage anywhere outside and find the right door inside the building. It was in one of those old buildings just off of main street. I try the handle but it’s locked, so I knock and no one answers. So I call the phone number on the website and no one picks up. I wait a few minutes trying to be polite then knock much louder so that anyone inside can hear me. A barefoot man in shorts opens the door. I explain that I have an appointment and ask if I’m in the right place. I expected to fill out some paperwork or something as per usual before a massage but no, he just leads me through a shabby looking main room into the massage room at which point I realize we are the only two people there. As a woman, all sorts of bells and whistles were going off in my head at this point. He’s polite but I can’t help but feel creeped out and almost turned around and left thinking that if I didn’t I’d end up on the news. If you’re looking for ambiance of any kind, like I am when I get a massage, this is not the place. I felt like I was just in some dudes apartment, which I guess is essentially what it is. The massage room was too bright. It had black out curtains but they were the kind that don’t cover the whole window and light seeps in the sides. Against my better judgement, I decided to stay. Once the massage started I noticed the therapist (Jason)’s stomach grumbling and gurgling every minute or so. Then after literally only about 8 minutes after my massage started he apologized and excused himself to the restroom. The whole time I was lying there while he was in the restroom I was thinking I should just leave. He finally comes back in probably 5-10 min later and says he’ll have to reschedule my appointment since he just got sick in the bathroom and doesn’t want to take a chance giving me anything. I did appreciate his honestly. The whole experience was so uncomfortable and awkward I just wanted to get the hell out of there. Luckily Groupon gave me a trade in so I didn’t waste my money but I would have rather been out some money than have gone back. I immediately drove home and took a long shower hoping he didn’t give me whatever it was he had. Jason may be a good masseuse (I couldn’t tell in only 8 minutes) but the lack of professionalism, responsiveness and security would keep me from ever going back. I’ll stick to the day spas and places I usually go. It’s definitely worth the little bit extra to never have another experience like that again!

I went for a deep tissue massage with Scott. I needed to reschedule on the day of and worked it out with Jason to my satisfaction. Scott did a great job, worked hard and managed to even find old pain points that I’d given up on. These old pain points that I just lived with are very nominal and mostly gone now, the day after my massage. I read some reviews below about the building being creepy and so on. It had originally alarmed me but as it turned out, the building is actually an office building created from an old home – much like the Bailiwick House became a restaurant and then an office “building”. I loved the older feel as I went up the stairs and the old pictures. Not creepy at all and I tend to be picky about these things. Scott was very respectful and I felt safe the whole time.

Rescheduled with Jason multiple times. The first time, didn’t even know how to reschedule online and I politely asked him for instructions— he was nothing but rude. Once it was rescheduled (for the fourth time), the day of, Jason cancelled and I noticed that my session was already redeemed, therefore I couldn’t schedule online. I contacted the studio and still no response. I’ve been robbed, pretty much. Waste of time and money.

Horrible customer service! The masseuse Jason wasn’t helpful in trying to book an appointment upon my phone call…and this is after calling 3 times before finally getting a call back. He pointed me to the website which did not have an option for the package I purchased. I booked a 60-minute massage though I’d bought a package of 3.

Jason was excellent. I left feeling much more relaxed and tension free. The deep tissue is intense but necessary for getting rid of knots. The environment was relaxing and the essential oils were a nice addition. Use the parking garage across the street for convenience because downtown Fairfax has little parking. Highly recommended if you need some intense muscle work.

Would give this wellness studio zero stars if I could. Jason acts completely unprofessional and refused to answer my phone calls and texts. Showed up twice for a massage and both times the door was locked and no one was around to help. Thankfully groupon was able to refund me; this man is a joke! Find another masseuse or spend your money elsewhere!

I really like the location in an old house with original hardwood floor. The office is upstairs on the left side. There are many parking opportunities near the location (public parking garage 2 hours free, 4 min walk). Jason is very experienced and helped me very well. He knows his clients and does everything to make you feeling better. I come extra from Alexandria, but it worth the way. Good price- quality ratio.

Horrible. No near by parking. Jason rescheduled 2 hours prior to our initial appointment. I was late 5 minutes, and had to use the restroom when I finally got there after a half hour drive. Then he asked if there’s any chance we could do it another there day because they have an appt right after mine and he can’t do short sessions due to Groupon policy. Sir, then why would you schedule appts back to back like that?! Your website said, 15 mins late policy would not be acceptable and that’s absolutely understandable but this was not the case. The experience was super upsetting; looking for parking, the location was hard to find, old building, not a calming vibe in the studio either and horriblehorriblehorrible customer service. They only have 2 therapists, both male. The other guy, Scott, seem to not be taking any appointments according to their website. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH PLACE, THEY’RE SHADY. ID GIVE THEM NEGATIVE STARS IF I COULD.
