I got a fill-in with gel polish for half the price what I was paying at my previous nail salon. Although they are appointment only right now, they were able to fit me in that day. I will most definitely be going here from now on. I also appreciate the nail tech not trying to force conversation. I’m a pretty quiet person when it comes to getting my hair and nails done. Because it’s like my time to relax and I can’t stand when a nail tech keeps trying to talk to me when I clearly don’t feel like having a conversation. Also, at a lot of other salons, as soon as you walk through the door the smell of acetone hits you in the face like a brick wall, but not once did I feel overwhelmed by any smells. In fact it didn’t smell like a nail salon at all. This salon is also good about not overbooking themselves. I think I speak for everyone when I say that nothing is more frustrating than having an appointment and having to wait another half hour to an hour after your scheduled time for them to fit you in. I don’t usually write reviews on anything, but I really felt like this was necessary! This place is very professional and very clean. I got a fill-in with gel polish for half the price what I was paying at my previous nail salon. Although they are appointment only right now, they were able to fit me in that day. I will most definitely be going here from now on. I also appreciate the nail tech not trying to force conversation. The nail tech cut my cuticles three times. She also filed my nails AFTER painting them, so there is nail polish missing around the edges of my nails. My nails also have absolutely no shape. None. They are all crooked and bumpy. The sheet at the front desk states that a fill in is $25, but I was charged $50. Save your money, don’t go here.

The attention to detail is exemplary- I never leave noticing a missed spot or any issues that were overlooked. The only complaint I have is that one employee charged me more than I usually pay because she decided to use two gel polishes on my toes instead of one, without me agreeing to pay an additional fee. I frequent Orchid as often as my budget allows and ALWAYS receive the most professional services. The attention to detail is exemplary- I never leave noticing a missed spot or any issues that were overlooked. The only complaint I have is that one employee charged me more than I usually pay because she decided to use two gel polishes on my toes instead of one, without me agreeing to pay an additional fee. I found out later that she did so to ensure the color I chose show up properly, and that’s fine, I just wish I knew beforehand about the added cost.

The girl at the front desk quickly sat me down to do my nails and was moving so quick she hit me with the drill twice on the cuticle. I thought, no problem everyone has an off day and this is an art not a science. I asked for a ombre nail fading from purple to black, she brought the black up so far my whole nail is black except for the smallest hint of purple at my cuticle. I left the salon a little upset with the color but was trying to be understanding because both colors were dark. Once I got into the sun I realized that all my nails were improperly shaped. I don’t mean the edge’s or point’s I mean not one nail had a properly defined apex, they were either flat or had several bumps. I then walked back into the salon were Yem looked very upset and agreed to fix the nails…TWO days later my nails are not the right color, still horribly misshaped and now my thumb has cracked completely because it had no apex to take the pressure off. As a man who gets his nail’s done I understand that I am automatically considered harder on my nail’s but please understand that I have worn acrylic over my naturel nails for many year’s now and know how to wear them properly. When my nail cracked I was simply spreading mayo onto a sandwich at work. I did not hit it, snag it or bend it.Another note on the customer service:Despite the clear lack of training and experience when it comes to building a nail, when I sat down to start my service Yem immediately asked me where I did hair. Not if I did hair but where I did it. I understand that the stereotype of a man who get’s his nail’s done is that he is homosexual, and I am. But that stereotype and the one about all gay men being hair stylist is not something that should be forced on a client willing to pay for your services and tip as well.I have seen beautiful nail’s come from this place but clearly they do not expect all of the Technicians working at the salon to perform at the same level, nor do they expect them to welcome the guest without bigotries.
