I threw my back out a few weeks ago, and my wife got me an appointment at Nokomis Massage & Wellness a few days later. Danielle was my massage therapist, and I cannot speak more highly of my experience. Danielle was extremely attentive to the back pain I was having and knew exactly which areas to target to loosen up the muscle that were causing me most trouble. She even recommended some stretching exercises so I could continue the healing at home and to prevent further injury in the future. Thanks again! I will definitely be coming back.

I went to this place on a recommendation from my partner. I got an hour massage with Caroline. Even though it’s a little confusing to find I enjoyed myself. The massage was amazing. I like a lot of pressure which is often difficult for massage therapist as they see many people and are often worn out. Not Caroline. After she got started I informed her of my preference and she did not hold back. More importantly she was very consistent throughout the whole massage. For sure coming back for another hour session. Btw they offer great deals on massages.

Great massage! Lucy intuitively knew exactly where to focus, and has perfect touch.

I’ve been going to Nokomis Chiropractic for years and recently started going to Nokomis Massage for a work-related injury. I’ve seen 3 different massage therapists there and they have all been great! I particularly loved Rachel – she’s very knowledgeable and always explains what areas she’s working on and makes good recommendations about areas to work on and focus on. Very happy getting my massages here!

Honestly, best massages I have ever had! Valerie and Caroline made me feel so relaxed during my massage sessions. They dug into the knots in my back and worked them out! Relieved so much tension!!

Jim H. is *the best* massage therapist I have ever encountered and he has novel techniques for the neck that are very effective. Jim has what I call “intelligent hands” in that he can feel what’s going on in the tissues. You don’t have to tell him, he can feel where it hurts and where it needs attention. He is able to do the really heavy, deep tissue massage and he can be gentle for the more sensitive people. I enjoy his quirky sense of humour and the fact that he loves what he does.

My massage was performed by a person who never introduced himself, I am guessing he was Jon. I thought his treatment was very dull, I am experienced with massage and feel the repetitiveness of his massage was not to achieve relaxation but rather a lack of inspiration or motivation. I was told to arrive 10 mins early to fill out paperwork but arrived to an empty room with no instructions. By way of introduction the masseuse asked, “have you done your paperwork?” By the time the previous client left, handed over my paperwork, consulted, waited for him to re-enter room (twice stopping massage to reset Ipad) my massage was around 40 mins- well under the quoted time of an hour. Small details seemed to be ignored, for instance directing me to where I can hand up my jacket and put down my stuff when I enter the room. Tucking in the bottom sheet on the massage table so not to get tangled up in it, inquiring whether the leg bolster is comfortable, etc.

I had a massage on 12-18-2018 which I ended after only 15-20 minutes. I’ve never done that in 25 years of getting massage therapy. I’m a CMT myself, and was looking for a place to be treated close to home. I should have known when the therapist walked in late, a few minutes after my appointment time and didn’t address me – the only client in the dismal waiting room – that this wasn’t going to go well. I sat looking at the open laundry room, sad biohazard bag of soiled sheets on the floor. There was no music on, no nice lighting, just a creepy fluorescent ceiling light. My session started and the woman began deep tissue work without warming my muscles first. I shouldn’t have to ask for warming up but I did. Then she tried occipital traction and I had to point out that to do this you have to get under the occipital ridge with your finger tips. As it was she was pressing hard on my skull and it hurt. She got defensive and said I’m still warming you up. (!) When she started on my SCM with her thumb I could feel her thumbnail. I told her I could feel her nails and she said sorry, that she’d clipped her nails but didn’t have time to file them. (!!) This was her cue to use knuckles, forearms, elbows, anything but her fingertips. But she didn’t. She offered to take a break and go file her nails but I said no. That’s when I ended the massage. The fingernail thing means everything. It says “I don’t care about the comfort and health of my client.” Scratch somebody’s skin enough and they can end up with an infection. If you’re a MT and don’t have time to keep your hands and nails nice, you should be doing something else. Also – it makes one wonder, what else has been skimped on here? Cleaning? The blinds in the room were filthy. I could go on but really, just avoid this place.

Positive: Professionalism, QualityVal is one of the best masseuses I’ve had. She is a great listener, and responds when i need more pressure or less, and is just fantastic.
