His salon is beaming with happiness and joy and he will make you feel welcome every single time you walk in. His talent is beyond words, personally, I am a platinum blonde and finding a stylist that could actually accomplish that was impossible until I met Mateo. I feel absolutely gorgeous every time I leave his salon and you will too. No matter what, he will ensure that you are taken care of, happy, and feeling your best when you leave. Mateo is nothing short of an artist! I always leave my appointments looking fantastic, cut and especially color are better than any other stylist I’ve ever used. Products he uses are super gentle and leave my hair shiny and soft. My color is always vibrant and full of dimension. He does such a great job cutting and styling my super fine hair too. And Joe is a master at the wash sink – no scratchy fingernails, perfect pressure on the scalp massage. Can’t say enough good things about Mateo House of Beauty!!

I had my wedding in Mystic this past weekend – I found Mateo through a web search- he was a dream come true for both me and my daughter- he DOES NOT DISAPPOINT!!! We fell in love instantly- he’s more than a pleasure to work with and I feel very lucky to have had his skills for my hair and makeup for such a special day. I recently went to Mateo’s House of Beauty. Mateo really took the time to suggest a cut and color with highlighting that would best suit me. I was thrilled with the results. I came to Mateo b/c I had an “emergency” situation with my last stylist. I HATED my color b/c it looked unnatural & trashy. Honestly? My hair looked like a striped tiger. I detest hair that LOOKS colored & quite frankly, I was practically embarrassed to show up at Mateo’s. I’m not by any means a high-maintenance kinda gal so I wasn’t sure if his shop would be the right spot for me but holy hell, was I mistaken for ever thinking I wouldn’t “be his kind of clientele”! I was treated like gold. I felt like I was the only person in the entire universe who could possibly be this lucky to have this experience. Welp, I hopped on to leave this review & of course I see many other people feel the same way! Mateo & Joe are shining examples of how everyone deserves to be treated. I felt validation, compassion, kindness, humor & love during my visit. To top it off? He FIXED MY TIGER STRIPES! I didn’t even know color could look this natural & pretty. Needless to say, I am SOLD on this salon. Don’t even think twice about making an appointment. Just do it!
