I’ve never written a negative review in my life, but I’m so frustrated with Massage Envy that I can’t help myself. I’ve been a LONG TIME member but have recently had tremendous difficulty finding appointments for massages, which I suspect is due to staffing shortages. Because of this, I made the decision to cancel my membership. I stopped at the store and was told that only a manager could do that. I was told the manager would call me. Four days later, I had heard nothing. I called and was told that the manager wasn’t available, so they’d leave her a message. Frustrated, I emailed the general customer support team on the Massage Envy website. They responded with (paraphrasing) “we can’t help you. Every Massage Envy is independently owned and handles their own membership.” Then yesterday (SEVEN DAYS) after I stopped at the store and when I was in a meeting at work, the manager finally called. I wasn’t able to take the call. When I did call back, she had left for the day. So I called back today and she’s still not there. The receptionist on the phone was incredibly rude and said “I don’t know what you want me to do, I can’t help you.” At this point, I’m planning to dispute the charges to my credit card and submit reviews wherever I’m able. I have loved Massage Envy for many years and I’m beyond exasperated with this experience. Incredibly poor customer service and I can’t believe I’ve been treated this way.

I bought the membership prior to Covid-19 pandemic and often worked too much to use my massage so I would pay extra and gift it. Now it is too the point where I have over 2 years worth of services already paid for you can only gift one a month and even with gifting and taking off work there is never availability and I’m checking 6 locations. There must be people set up on recurring appoints or something so I am literally paying monthly to keep banking services I never get to use. Even the ones I gift can not get in to see someone since it must be at the Orland Park location that never seems to have openings unless it is a last moment cancellation which has not being working in my favor. The cost is going up even higher so if you haven’t committed to membership yet strongly think twice. However, when I have been able to get a service it was awesome. I love the deep tissue for 90 mins and the stretch for 30 mins the best!! Unless you have an insider hook up on securing your visits then just us them here and there do not lock yourself in to a membership that basically becomes useless.

Location is clean and well kept. David is phenomenal. They had a long line at reception so prob need to work on having more receptionists or a quicker process of getting thru folks but didn’t take too long to feel like a problem

It’s frustrating when you have a membership and can never get an appointment. You have to book weeks to a month out in advance. The last two appointments scheduled for my husband at this facility were both canceled. They need to hire more massage therapist s so that people with memberships can actually use the service they are paying for. This is not just a problem at the Orland location but all massage envy locations.

Maurice is an awesome massage therapist! He was very professional, polite and respectful. He is well knowledgeable of your needs in terms of areas of the body that needs lots of attention. He gave me a handout of body stretches that I can add to my daily work out routine to relieve tension points. Excellent!!!!!

Critical: Communication, Professionalism, QualityI’ve been a client for 3 years. In the beginning, everything went well, but in the last year or so, it was impossible to book an appointment. Usually, it would take over a month in advance to schedule a massage. That was an issue due to my extremely hectic schedule. Then, even after scheduling a massage, they would call and cancel a day before, or I would be arriving in the parking lot and get the call that the massage therapist did not show up for work and he’s not answering his phone. I kinda started getting tired of it and decided to cancel my membership after they informed me about raising the price. I had 5 credits (each 65 USD) left due to my inability to schedule appointments.A month ago, I made an appointment for January 19th, at 07:30 pm with the specific therapist of my choice. I also picked that time because that was the only time I was available. Once the appointment was confirmed I received a calendar reminder from Massage Envy. Massage Envy also sends out a text message a day before your appointment to remind you and confirm the appointment. All you have to do is to send Y to confirm. Yesterday, I got the text message, that I expected as usual, and replied with Y not paying attention to details. What a mistake. It turned out that someone took it upon themselves to change the time of my appointment and to assign a different therapist to me without calling and asking if I am interested in that. Since I was naive enough to trust them and reply with Y to that message I’m out of money. Today, at 02:40 pm I received a phone call where they informed me how I’m late for the appointment, and since I confirmed that text message, they will charge me for 90-minute massage. That is borderline fraud and such a poor business practice. I have more credit left and if they don’t refund me I’ll rather lose it than go through this nonsense again. I will never use this franchise again. I attached the calendar reminder they sent and the text message. There are so many other places that don’t require membership and will be more than happy to do their job while respecting your time. I am a new member of this location and all of my experiences were great prior to the last appointment. I have always had Jada for my therapist and always tip her generously. This particular session I booked a couples massage for myself and my boyfriend, the first disappointment was that when we checked in Jada didn’t acknowledge me at all or as her normal customer. She never spoke to me which made me very uncomfortable. I am a woman of height and I know I stand out. Also during the massage she serviced my boyfriend and still didn’t acknowledge me as a regular guest of hers. This has left me feeling not welcome as a customer!!
