I have been here in the past and had good experiences today however, my daughter and I walked in and was told to have a seat, shortly after the people working started taking the people before me which was cool. However while my daughter and I are waiting someone new walks in and the nail tech ask her what services she would like, which was never asked to me, we still sat, the nail tech proceeds to tell the other person to wash her hands and sit at a table. I will never go back.

Yes, that’s blood. I am still in shock. After a long, stressful work week, I stopped by Marvelous Nails for a mani-pedi on 3/5/2022. I’ve attended this salon roughly 3-4 times over the past two years and usually walk-in if my favorite place is booked. Let’s just say I walked into a horrible situation. During my pedicure a young lady—who was also getting a pedi—complained to her tech that she wanted a different shape. I listened in for a little bit and then tuned out the rest of the conversation because uh, remember that stressful week? Once my pedi was complete, I walked to the front desk and let the desk staff know I was ready for my manicure. I sat down, waited a few minutes and was later joined by nail tech Nancy—she was furious. She angrily talked to herself while she set up her supplies and eventually looped in the nail tech next to her into her rant. She started my manicure at some point but I immediately felt her anger transfer to the work she was doing to my hands. I realized that she was the same nail tech the other lady complained about during my pedi! Apparently Nancy hit her with a brush?! I was unsure if I overheard that correctly so I asked her to, “take a breath and gather your thoughts because you’re being very rough”. She huffed and pretty much ignored me. I foolishly let her continue. She cut my nails and started to clean my cuticles. Once again, she was unnecessarily rough and pinched me too hard a few times. I let her know and asked her to take a break. She scoffed this time and emphasized that my cuticles must be cut (side note: I was completely okay with the procedure; I was not okay with how unprofessional and rough she was. She behaved like a giant child). After wincing in pain from my right hand she moved to my left hand. That’s when I noticed an unforgiving sting on my middle finger. When I pulled it out of the bowl my finger dripped with blood. I stopped her, stood up and walked over to the salon manager and showed him what Nancy did. He looked apathetic and stared at me blankly (which blew my mind). At some point, another nail technician offered me a bandaid and disinfectant while Nancy stormed off talking to herself. I gathered my purse and headed straight for the front door—something I should have done when she couldn’t gather herself initially. If you’re considering Marvelous Nails, save yourself a trip and go somewhere else! I’ve reported this to the NC Board of Cosmetology.

The owner Nick has a NASTY attitude. He has done this on two separate occasions. I asked if a different tech could do my nails due to lack of skills of the other nail tech. He acts as if you are not paying for a service. I can’t believe anyone has received quality services when the owners attitude is terrible Gel manicures

Positive: Professionalism, QualityThis salon is my FAVORITE! After moving from Atlanta last July, I was hesitant to try a new place after using the same salon for over 5 years. I saw this place in a parking lot and decided to give it a try since I was new to the area. IM SO GLAD I DID!! Jenny usually takes care of me, and she is so personable, conversational and kind! She always takes her time and does a great job. I have had other nail techs and they are all incredibly personable and friendly. I’ve never had a negative experience. I never make an appointment and always pop in when I have free time, but any time I’ve had to wait has never been over 25 minutes and is reasonable considering the service received! Not only do they do a great job on my nails and eyebrows, but I always leave feeling uplifteded and recharged because it’s always such an experience for me!! I’m so glad I wandered in here 6 months ago. Will be a regular here for a long time!!Services: Nail art, Waxing, Dip powderThis salon is my FAVORITE! Great customer service from Nick. I was a first time customer and new to the area. He catered to me and gave me exactly what I wanted. I’ll definitely be traveling an hour and a half every time for that A1 service!

This place was amazing the first time I went. Recently I went to get my girlfriend’s eyebrows done and they completely messed up her eyebrows. It was a different person from the first time we went (picture is from the first time we went).

Highly recommend: kimmy did my feet and nick did my nails and OH MY GOD! Amazing! So worth the money and time. Nick took his time on my hands like no one ever has and even took the time to find the color green I wanted. Kimmy took her absolute time with my toes and even painted them the same color as my nails. I absolutely recommend here! You can’t find patience and quality anywhere else! Will be my new regular spot. Thank you guys again for making my bad week so much better ❤❤

Critical: ProfessionalismI normal don’t write reviews but because of incident that happen I was lead to make others aware of this nail shops discriminatory practices. I went in the shop to get a manicure. I have been to this shop a total of three times. The very first time I received a manicure in which the young lady, Meme did a great job. She even helped me pick out my color and did a nice design for me. The next time I received the same service no problem. However, my third time going there I decided to get a pedicure and only get my fingernails painted. I noticed when I left the shop there were some spots on my nails that the technician Meme missed so I went back in and she fixed them with no problem. I called on a Sunday to see if Meme was there and the owner Nick said she wasn’t but I decided to go into the shop as a walk-in. I walked in and was greeted by Nick who told me to wash my hands, in which I did. I then sat down and Nick came over to me and said, “sorry we can not service you.” In complete shock and me not understanding what he is saying I asked what do you mean you can’t service me? He replied, “Meme called and said not to service you because you were too demanding.” I replied that’s funny because Meme never said anything to me and we had great conversation. The owner replied, “she (Meme wasn’t comfortable with telling you, so she wanted me to say something.” I found that to be odd because Meme actually said, “I will see you in three weeks.”If this was the case why was she so comfortable in sharing information about her other job and her family. Why would she always encourage me to get my eyebrows done or a design? She always picked my color out for me because she knew I would pick something basic.in which she works for the state, and she only works at the shop on the weekends.I have never in my history of going to nail shops or any establishments for that matter been asked to leave. I feel like this was very unprofessional and discriminatory. It’s sad because black women are mainly the ones that support these Asian salons and get treated with the most disrespect. The owner clearly doesn’t know how to run a business. Maybe some courses in business etiquette, professionalism, effective communication, and cultural competence would help.I normal don’t write reviews but because of incident that happen I was lead to make others aware of this nail shops discriminatory practices.
