I had long hair that I had been growing out. I wanted a small trim. Whichever lady did my hair, ruined it. She chopped it all off. Now I have to restart my growth process.

Older Lady that did my hair was so gently. Would ask was I ok multiple times and made sure I left with my hair looking nice and sleek!!I’ve been here a few times and have had my hair blown out by different workers that always get to close to my scalp with the heat, not this time! Will continue to go the same lady from now on!!

I care for my own hair , however; I am unable to maintain trimmed and healthy ends on my own. I found this salon in desperation one Sunday after an impromptu at home hair maintenance session. I was glad I was able to get a quality service in a jiffy. The staff is primarily Spanish speaking, but there was someone there to convey what I was in search of.

Maritza has been doing my hair for over 7 years. The other day she did a deep cleanse to strip my hair of the black color that I had been using, and applied a warm brown and my hair looks absolutely fabulous. Her entire team are very customer focused and I am extremely satisfied! Hair coloring, Blowouts, Hairstyling

Only rated this place 1 star because I can’t give 0. The thing that did my hair (because she did not act like a woman) was extremely rude and rough with my hair! She kept saying oh dios mio which in Spanish means “oh my God” while combing out my hair. She was the most disrespectful “stylist” I’ve ever encountered and I will NEVER be back. I will stick with Pro Dominican salon. There they are very kind and treat me with care, kindness and respect. 0 out of 10 DO NOT RECOMMEND. If I wasn’t so nice I would’ve handled her that day. Instead I wrote this review. This salon will not prosper with people like that.

Connecticut is where I am from, where there is a Dominican salon is in every city just about. I’ve always gotten blow outs with relaxed hair, but have been natural for 4 years this February.

Please read entire review, I promise its worth it. I’m going to start off by saying this: my mother is from Panama which for those who don’t know, is a Spanish speaking country. That being said, I am not fluent in Spanish but, I understand more than I can speak. I am also a licensed esthetician with a broad knowledge base in cosmetology. I came into this establishment Sunday (71722) because it was one of my days off and I don’t get off early enough to get to a salon during the weekdays. I had slept in later than I would’ve liked so when I got up, I went to the first salon I found on google maps that was actually open (most salons are not open on Sundays). I quickly called and asked when they closed. The person who answered said they would stop taking people at 5pm. I told them I would be there in 15 mins to which they replied “ok.” and abruptly hung up. Upon arrival, they asked me what I wanted, I answered, and was led to the wash station. As I was seated at the wash bowl and taking in my surroundings, I quickly realized that mostly everyone who I spoke to didn’t understand English well, which was understandable seeing as how this is a Dominican salon. I overheard conversations while I was waiting that I translated three specific words from: “nerga por ahí” it means “black girl over there.” The woman who was washing my hair scrubbed my scalp very aggressively, the bowl was very hard and hurting my neck so, I asked if I could have a towel to lay on. She didn’t understand at first but eventually I got one, and was seated with the lady who was to straighten my hair. I asked her if she was going to do roller sets because I wanted to let her know I would prefer it blown out and flat ironed to reduce the amount of heat exposure. There was some misunderstanding between us but, in time she figured it out and began blow drying my hair on the highest heat setting possible. Due to me being tender-headed and my scalp being already irritated from the wash, the heat was really starting to get to me several sections in, so I asked if she could turn the heat setting down. She replied “I cant do that. If the blow dryer is cold it wont straighten” (she spoke English the best out of all of them as far as could tell) but I wasn’t asking her to put it on cold, I was asking her to just lower the heat setting and as I started to explain why, she began talking over me to another woman in Spanish. At that point I had given up trying to communicate. I felt very ostracized and disregarded so I stayed quiet but couldn’t help but keep flinching away from the blow dryer. All it took was a couple more times of me flinching before she slammed her dryer and brush down exclaiming “I can’t do it.” She walked away to sit across the room and speak to the other ladies in Spanish. No one spoke to me, and I stayed in my seat desperately searching for another salon to finish my hair on google. I found one thankfully so I got up, handed the woman who started my hair $5, said “You have a nice rest of your day.” and left with most of my hair still dripping wet. I wanted to cry with how blatantly racist and uncompromising she behaved. I would not recommend going to this salon unless you are fluent in Spanish or if you’re interested in badly heat damaging your hair. I would give them 0 stars if I could.
