One of the best hair salons ever. In response to the late 50% charge below, I think it makes sense from business perspective since they can’t make money when that appointment time is taken. Taking a late client causes delay for later appointments. I was also charged the 50% at $50, but it actually counts towards the next appointment, so it’ not that bad.

I have been getting my hair styled for decades, and not once have I felt as heard and as respected as I felt in this salon. I came in with pictures and pipe dreams of cuts that had nothing to do with my hair texture or its capabilities, talked about my realistic options, and left with the most beautiful cut — a cut that made me feel 10 years younger, and on the verge of tears of happiness. I had injured my hand and was unable to wash my own hair. I went in just for a wash. I was told I would have to pay before the service I didn’t think anything of it at the time and gave them my credit card. The $30 dollar wash consisted of one shampoo. No conditioner, no dry. When I was done I was asked to pay, she had forgotten she had asked for my card already, and was charged $35, which I did not dispute. Was told I couldn’t leave a tip on the card only cash or Venmo. I only had 20’s and was told they couldn’t make change. If I could rate them a zero, I would.

Okay look. No really look. I can’t speak on the establishment so I won’t. You have two options. Billy of the wall or Gianne the green thumb. These two amazing people will now only make you feel and look like a new person. Really horrible experience with Luxelab. Was super excited as a first-time customer to get my hair done here. I was running late for my appointment (20 mins) and called to let them know. I was told there wasn’t enough time to complete the service (Partial Balayage w/blowdry) and according to their policy, would be charged 50% of the service. Before I got off the phone, I had a charge from the salon. Was then sent the additional detail around the cancellation policy that included: “Late arrivals will be charged the full price of the scheduled service(s) even if there is not enough time to render them.” I would have been fine with forgoing the blowdry- would have happily even paid for it. This wasn’t even given as an option. Feels super scammy and not the right way to run a business. Also, read below someone had an emergency and as a returning customer was still charged. Way too many salons in Santa Monica to waste your time with a place like this. I will be disputing the charge as I did not cancel and given their policy should have been offered a different outcome. Please save the “Luxelab prides itself on providing exemplary service to all of our clients” if you respond to this review – that’s clearly not the case.

Don’t go to this salon unless you want to be surrounded by aggressive, rude, and condescending people. A man who works there who has a shaved head and earrings harassed me and was incredibly rude. Don’t go here!
