This Great Clips on East 56th Street got me right in but gave me my first BAD hair cut!! My hair was past my waist. I asked for it to be cut to below shoulder blades at bra line and layered. She butchered my hair almost to my shoulders!!! And ZERO layers. Had to go to another salon to fix and pay again!! My hair is now above my shoulders but layered. She had cut about 16-18 inches too much!!!

Erica is incredibly rude. I was outside in the cold at 8:55 AM, she walks up, unlocks the door walks in and locks it on me. Sure I was 5 minutes early but I’m out here in the cold in shorts. I’m surprised she’s still employed here after all these 1 star reviews for her.

I took my son here for a haircut. There was one single lady working in the store. We did not use check in and there were a few people ahead of us. When it was finally our turn, we did not mind the wait, she did a wonderful job on my son’s long tresses. You can tell that she was exhausted but still had a great attitude and very welcoming. She did a wonderful job. We left her a decent tip to hopefully make up for her being the only person there.

I am an African American woman with natural hair there was once a time when I could go to great clips get my hair washed blown out with my ends trimmed. I called today to check if there was someone in the establishment that was familiar with African-American hair I spoke with an employee that was very honest and told me they took all the services as far as Iron outs, blowouts and curling hair off the price list. Last time I checked for an African-American woman with natural hair her hair needs to be straightened slightly just to get a accurate trim. I understand the title is great clips and they specialize in cutting here but it seems to me as if they cater to Caucasians, and then after speaking with an employee she admitted that that was the case even when they’re training they use Caucasian mannikins to learn off of. I understand time is money because that was the excuse that the employee gave me from her corporate office they can do 10 haircuts in a hour or two versus just one head -The last time I checked a good licensed cosmetologist doesn’t need to take two hours to do a wash, blowout and a trim I’ve had it done a great clips before and it only took maybe an hour and if time/money is an issue then charge more for timely services! Now I understand why so many great clips are shutting down poor service and only caters to straight hair which we know most African-Americans have curly hair which requires different techniques! Not a very welcoming establishment if they don’t train there employees to be versatile when it comes to hair because we all have different hair ,even Caucasians /other races can have curly course here sometimes. I think it’s just ridiculous and I will not be returning to great clips!
