I booked Kristi for my wedding hair and makeup and I could not have been happier. She listened to what I wanted and collaborated with me to get a realistic (I have lots of hair) and incredibly flattering style. I LOVED the trial hair and makeup. I was worried Kristi would have trouble replicating my hair for the wedding day but somehow she made my hair even more beautiful, and she took the few small tweaks I wanted for the makeup and transformed me into the most beautiful I have ever been. She kept the style in line with my vision for the wedding and she was very nice to talk to during the appointments. Kristi and her team did my hair and makeup, my moms and mother-in-laws, and 6 of my bridesmaids. Everyone looked great and felt comfortable and at home. Her attention to detail and eye for colors and beauty flattered every face and hair style we had. She was flexible to work with our wedding day schedule, opening early to make sure we kept everything on time. I got lashes, airbrush makeup and an up-do, and everything survived an entire day of 100+ degree summer heat outdoors for the pictures and ceremony, my own tears, and lots of dancing that night. I would certainly recommend her to anyone in the IC/Coralville/CR area. My only regret is not getting better pictures of her beautiful work.

I just moved to Iowa City and it was a little daunting to find a new hair salon especially with COVID-19. Let me say….Haven did not disappoint! The salon was nice and clean, and the owner, I think Kristi, was very accommodating, kind, and provided a very safe environment. Everyone in the salon was wearing a mask. Plus, I loved my hair! Look no further if your on the hunt. I will definitely be recommending Haven Hair Salon to everyone.

Critical: Professionalism, QualityDo NOT come here!!! If you come here, you’ll regret it. I went in to get my hair colored and she over-processed it to the point that I can’t style it. Two days after I called her to tell her that it wasn’t what I wanted and if there was anything that she can do to help (which professional stylists already do).I have since called her multiple times and left voice messages and she hasn’t returned any of my calls. She has ghosted me. This woman is handling her business unprofessionally. It is unacceptable that she is not returning my calls. I just want to have nice hair. Kristi has been my stylist for over three years!! She goes above and beyond to help me look my best. She always gives me a perfect cut and style, and my hair is healthier and in better shape than it’s ever been!! She also has great suggestions on what is new and what she thinks might look good on me. She’s just the best!!!

Unfortunately I don’t remember the lady’s name who cut my hair, but she had glasses, i think it was Kristi. I got my hair cut here back in November. Having a curly pixie cut I was nervous to go somewhere new. First she turned the chair so I couldn’t see myself. Not only was my hair combed down all around my head and chopped into a bowl cut, about 2-3 inches of my already short hair were cut off! I had asked for a trim on top! My hair was also not cut to match how my curls hang and come together. In addition to having the bowl cut, the sides of my head were different! I had especially told her that I wanted both sides to be even. The left side was faded from top to bottom of my head and then the right side had an obvious detachment of top head hair vs the sides where she buzzed it instead of fading. I was so disappointed and mortified when i saw myself I said I liked it, I still tipped the woman 10$ because I had a groupon and I believe in tipping for service. It’s been 5+ months and my curls have not come back from being combed and cut against their natural state, Its been a huge let down. My cut would have worked if she knew what she was doing and cut it correctly

I have been going to Haven Hair for nearly 3 years (which is saying something as normally I try out different places? Kristi is wonderful and always does a great job with my cut and highlights. She also did an updo for my baby shower which looked fab. Would recommend her.

I am so disappointed with my last visit. The first time I went, I got a haircut and asked her to give me an estimate of how much would 10 foil highlights cost me. She touched my hair (they are black and thick)and said “it will be $35”.As we spoke more about my hair color I specified that I use henna on my hair. At that time it did not feel like it was an issue. Later when I scheduled an appointment she had an a hard time getting my hair bleached. She kept blaming that on my Henna. She kept on putting more bleach on my hair. The color she showed me didn’t seem like it was Caramel. Point to note-she did not show me the color shade book but just pulled out a color strand and said this is what she think it should be. I wasn’t convinced that it was caramel So she give me the option that she can add a little bit of red/ orange color to match carmel. Long story short I ended up spending way more time than I expected, with red hair that turned blonde after 2 washes and then walked out by paying total of $106 which was expected to be $35. Yes she added extra $55 for the extra bleach and the extra color she added without giving me a hint during the process that those would cost extra!

My hair was completely ruined after I came here. Shelby and I agreed to cut 4 inches off my hair, and she turned the chair so my back was to the mirror while she cut my hair. She took off a total of 8 inches and gave me a horrendously uneven cut. 8 inches is over a year’s worth of hair growth and you can see that one side was cut a full inch shorter than the other side. I’ve never had a worse haircut in my life and months later, I’m still dealing with it. What I agreed to was so drastically different than what Shelby did to my hair. She ruined it.

My experience with Haven Hair Salon was so bizarre. I showed up for my wedding hair/makeup trial and the salon was locked. I waited around outside for 15 minutes before Kristi showed up. Side note: I tried to call, but the salons phones have been out of service for weeks.Once Kristie finally arrived, she said she had car troubles so she had to get an uber. Then, after searching through her purse she discovers she left her keys at home, so I, THE CUSTOMER, had to drive her home to get her keys!! Keep in mind, I do not know this woman. Then when we finally get in the salon, she makes all these comments like “oh, i have no clean towels in the salon” and “oh, my printers broken” and “oh, i think there’s something wrong with my air brush device” Unsurprisingly, my hair and makeup was not at all what I had asked for. I absolutely could not believe my experience and would not recommend Haven Hair Salon for any bride! #bridezilla

If 0 was an option, I would give it! She stood me up after I had a confirmed appointment. I took time off work and the doors were locked when I got there. I left her a phone message and a FB message, no response for several days. I approached her again and then got a very generic response. There is no excuse for standing someone up and then not responding to messages. Do not go to this salon, so unprofessional!
