She is incredibly respectful and responsive to client needs and has created a very welcoming space for all people. As a chubby woman it is the first time a chair has not pinched my hips. I have been seeing Tunowa for YEARS. And she knows hair, locs & curls like a first language. This review is specifically about my first major chop. Went from passed bra length hair to short pixie cut. As someone rocking their natural curly hair everyone & they mama told me NOT to cut my hair “your hair so beautiful” “people would kill for your hair” “you’ll regret it” all those projections are not my problem. Tunowa & Marie helped me feel confident and valid in what I wanted and beyond supported my decision to chop off my luscious curls and I’ll never go back. The salon itself is safe and gives comfort and security we all deserve. Marie and Tunowa work collaboratively naturally. If you’re looking for an amazing cut you definitely need to go see Leah Ray at Black Sheep Salon! You will find that all your questions and concerns are answered and understood with Leah, she will not steer you wrong. There’s no one I trust more with my hair. I also have to mention just how much I enjoyed the salon itself. There’s something to be said about a place of business that welcomes you as you are. Can not recommend enough!

Marie is not only a very talented professional and probably the best colorist I’ve gone to, but a lovely and thoughtful person. Before my appointment, I mentioned that I had hurt my back and she remembered to help me up from the wash basin. I try my best to support businesses I like, and even in this case when I moved out of the area and it’s harder to plan appointments. I’m very excited to see this business grow and thrive and I wish them the best of luck.

I had a fantastic time here seeing Tunowa for my first appointment. The space is very welcoming and comfortable. I believe you must book an appointment online before visiting, but their website is very easy to navigate.

For many years I wore a straight bob but grew tired of fighting it’s natural curly, wavy, frizzy texture. Tunowa was recommended to me, and when I met her I was very impressed with her incredible knowledge of hair. She followed the photo I brought in, and gave me recommendations on products and styling. She is a very warm person, and the salon itself is a special, welcoming place.
