It’s Christmas Eve. I just need a haircut. I’m in a sour mood.

We’ve brought our kid here a few times since we moved to Newhall. Every time the haircut was fantastic and we especially appreciated having a locally owned place that did an artisan-style job as an option over the chain places.

Got my hair cut here for the first and last time. It’s hands down the worst haircut of my life. He did well on the sides but when it came to the top the layering is nonexistant. Instead of lines of layering its like an ocean wave of whatever. There are large chunks that are very choppy. If the gentleman that did my hair wasn’t older I would think he was very new to cutting hair. It’s the kind of cut I expect at a really cheap chain location like Fantastic Sam’s which is why I don’t go to those places and won’t return to this one.

Brian was amazing! Took me in last minute on NYE. Only place that was available. Great attention to detail. Will definitely be going back.

There was no waiting and walk-ins are welcome, unlike many of the other barbers in the area. The barber who cut my hair was very eager to please. The one issue I had was the electric clippers he used blew out air. I’m not sure if that was by design but, with a mask on, cut hair was blown into my mask, which was a bit irritating. I’m sure he had no idea. My very fine hair is difficult to cut without showing cuts after the next shampooing. The barber did a good job in that respect. Unfortunately, he didn’t pay attention to how I had my hair combed when I got there. When he was finished, I was taken back to the hair style I had as a child. Easy to fix when I left but I like a barber who pays attention to such details. It seems the price of a haircut has gone up everywhere and their price of $25 seems to be the going rate.

My wife called and made an appointment, the next morning I come in and all I get is “uh I don’t have anything.” “Did she make the appointment online?” No she called on the phone. “uh it’s probably for a person coming in at 10” ok I can wait no problem, then he takes in a guy who came in after me and emmidiatly starts cutting his hair. I wait around for 10 minutes and nobody shows up so I leave. The guy was rude and unprofessional. Then my wife calls, he picks up and just says “yeah?” over the phone, no good morning no how can I help you, just “yeah?” There are plenty of places around here to get a haircut but this place is not worth it.

Critical: Professionalism, PunctualityWhat a waist of time. I called in around 2 to get scheduled for an appointment around 6:10 and they confirmed they could take me. Then they decide to take walkins in front me and told me “ I thought you called about if we take walk ins” when I said no such thing. The place looks like a dump as well. Oh by the way it’s cash only… but the only sign that says it was half covered up and they never mentioned it over the phone. I would have sat there for another 30 minutes and wouldn’t of even been able to get a hair cut because I didn’t have cash on me. I recommend going somewhere else that’s a legitimate and professional business. What a waist of time. This is officially my New Favorite Barber Shop. They’re extremely affordable and professional! We had a great conversation throughout the haircut. It’s an extremely welcoming business and I’d recommend it to anyone who is looking to get a hair cut. Genuinely a very good experience!

On the front window there is a sign that says walk ins welcomed.. I walked in 1.5 hours before their stated closed time and was not actually welcomed. Haha. They asked me to leave as they were all booked up for the night. However there was only one person waiting and one on the chair.

So I guess I’m the odd one out here with all the stellar reviews this place is getting. I just moved to the SCV area and was in need of a go to barber place and picked Andy’s because of their great reviews. However, the experience was one of the worst haircuts I have ever received. My barber was a women who spoke very little English and I’m pretty sure she didn’t understand my request at all since I got something that resembled a wanna-be sloppy attempt at a rock-a-billy hair do. I had asked for a short clippers on the side with a high taper and one an a half inches on the top that was blended with the sides. What I received was of poor quality and lacked skill. She didn’t even touch the hair at the front of my head and left it abnormally long. Long story short, I went to fantastic Sam’s down the street and they fixed it for 10$ and said she was poorly skilled and lacked any real training, and was appalled that she was cutting hair. I would not recommend this place whatsoever. With that said,, it has a nice ambiance and with this being the beauty industry I know skill-set varies greatly from barber to barber. With that said she had first chair which indicated that she was one of their better barbers. I will not be returning and I recommend RJ at the Fantastic Sam’s by Aldi down the street.
