I do not normally review places I visit but I have been going to zoomtan for about a year now and I have to say I love the Stuyvesant Plaza location! Tina the manager is the best so far and is ALWAYS upbeat and her energy is contagious! No mater what kind of mood I’m in when I get there I always leave in a great one. I have seen times when the salon was full of customers and she handled herself with grace with every situation every time. She takes the time with each customer, no rushing through. Way to go ZoomTan you got a great one with her!!!

My first experience getting a spray tan, the room smelt absolutely terrible. It was extremely dirty, humid, and swampy. The tan came out nice but overall would only return if they cleaned rooms between uses.

I was disappointed. I usually use st. Croix but recently found out they’re changing to zoom tan so I tried it. There is no music inside each booth, they did not leave a towel for you and it was dark and gloomy inside the store. It was just nothing special. It’s also a good thing that I’m familiar with how to tan safely because the girl didn’t explain anything to me. Not a fan.

I used to tan at Miami Sun before it closed, but I had a prom so I needed to not be pale. First of all, the doors in the spray tan booths don’t close. So, when you’re standing there, wet, you’re also freezing. Also, it was wet. Then, when I went home, I had to wash all of my bedding the next morning because it smelled disgusting. It was literally gross and if I smelled it again, I will literally throw up. Then, to top my week off, I woke up the next morning literally orange. I scrubbed it off the best I could, but oh my god. Critical: ValueI used to be a member however the prices continued to rise excessively so I canceled my membership and joined a different tanning salon. I was traveling today and stopped at zoom tan for a one time session as it was on the way. The employee was unpersonable and pushy. She denied me the option to tan because I wasn’t in her system (witch makes no since because I had a membership at one time). The most frustrating part is that i already didn’t want to patronize with this business due to the prices being much higher than any other place for the same tan and then when I do go they have poor customer service. The employees were pushy because they were busy conversating with eachother about personal conversations. It was really a reminder for me on why I canceled my membership to begin with. Thier was only one spray tan available and we were advised it would be a long wait with only one person waiting ahead of us and encouraged to come another day. The person I arrived with has an active membership and expressed to me the employee working is always rude and takes excessive time to assist with the customers. I would not recommend anyone to zoom tan and advised my friend to cancel her membership. Went to beach body tanning for many years, wanted to cancel my membership due to health reasons. Beach body never canceled it so I went into this location to get it figured out considering I was still getting charged. Manager directed me to go online that was the only way to cancel and cancel the account since there was a mistake, offered no resolution for unused months of tanning. I told her I planned on disputing the charges..just a heads up if you dispute charges you get permanently banned from using any zoom tan location. I went online and it came up that they could not find my account so I called the customer service number and she told me that I had to go to the salon and update my information in order to cancel it…very disappointing.

Beach Body Tanning was recently acquired by Zoom Tan. The staff remains professional and friendly and that’s why I even gave this location 2 stars. I am not a frequent tanner. I purchased packages from Beach Body and could walk-in sporadically throughout the year. However, Zoom Tan does not offer packages – instead they automatically charge your credit card every month. This is not ideal for non-regular tanners like me. The charge for me to just pay for a tan is almost as much as a monthly charge to my credit card. Sometimes I tan three times a month, sometimes I tan just once a month and sometimes I go a month or two or three without tanning. For people like me – who just aren’t regular tanners – the new “memberships” suck. Customers were also able to leave their lotions there behind the desk which employees would give you – not anymore – with Zoom Tan. And before there were wipes in the tan room for customer’s use – not anymore. It is sad that they got rid of all the personal touches Beach Body Tanning provided to its customers. Zoom Tan is the corporate, sterile, impersonal experience of tanning. Will look for a new tanning spot that isn’t so corporate and actually still cares about customers – not just how much they can make off of me.
