Around 10:45am, I called to make an appointment for a haircut. To my surprise, she was able to see me the same day at 11:30am. On the phone, she asked how long my hair was. I let her know my hair was a few inches below my shoulder. This was a good question on the phone because I know a woman’s cut can take longer than a men’s cut. But she accommodated me still, which I’m grateful for!

My new haircut place. Excellent. Small parking lot, but I’m within walking distance. They know how to cut asian hair too. Thinned my hair, with special scissors. Very efficient, knew that they knew what they were doing on the first cut. Owner and employee are very nice. Excellent place. I gave them $10 tip, told them their prices are too low!

I have long straight hair and have always sought out the basic 20$ haircut to trim dead ends, add some long layers, angle the front. Thuy was able to accomplish all this. She did a dry cut, no wash, no blow out all for $25. Very happy with the result and I’ll be back. This place is for the gal who does not need all the fancy salon dye/blow out without the associated cost.

People ask me why I keep my hair so long and the answer is simple: I keep delaying getting a haircut because I just can’t justify spending $70 for a quick cut of split ends. Then I found this place. Yen got me an appointment in 2 days so I don’t have to wait weeks out for my old hairstylist just to get my hair cut. I was running late but she did not get mad at me. Throughout the haircut session, Yen was extremely friendly as well. She told me she’s been cutting hair for 30 years and many of her customers got their hair cut since they are kids. All of that goes to show her skills and experiences. She did a great job framing my hair to my face as well. I would say if you are just looking to cut your hair and nothing else – this is the place to go! You honestly can’t beat the price!!!

I cannot recommend Yen Salon enough. They have provided me the best haircuts in Portland that I’ve experienced. Both Yen and Thuy are masters of their craft. They only provide top tier cuts, and the price is very reasonable. There’s no reason to go to the high-end barbershops or salons and pay a premium for a haircut when you can go here for equal or better quality at a fraction of the cost.
