I gave kind and clear instructions for my haircut. Upon being shown the result, I politely explained that that was the opposite of what I had requested and then politely requested that my haircut be done the way I had originally requested. The barber then rushed to fix my haircut and left the backside of my haircut a rushed mess and neglected to show me the back with a mirror (I had already taken so much time in his chair, with another customer waiting, that I felt it would be rude of me to insist on asking for a mirror to inspect his work). I didn’t see the backside of my head until after I had left and I was very disappointed and very disheartened upon seeing it.

This guy really know how to cut hair. This used to be Pat’s Barber Shop, if this is the location I think I’m reviewing. I’ve only ever seen one guy working here and he is the bomb! He doesn’t talk much, but that’s not what I want anyway when I come for a haircut. I want a quality haircut and beard trim, and this guy delivers both for a $20 bill. I can tell how meticulously he works his instruments. I get a different haircut and beard trim every time, and every time, it’s jaw-dropping!

Came in and asked for a simple haircut. The barber cut me by the ear which was fine, because at least somebody in town still tries to use a straight razor. But when I got home I noticed that I still had a lot of hairs falling off my scalp, and had to take a shower again. Also asked for the top evenly trimmed which it wasn’t and it felt like the front part of my head had something wrong with it, like my hair had thinned out. I don’t know if the chemicals used didn’t react well or if its just my imagination but it freaked me out on top of all the other things wrong.

This is the go to spot to get a tight cut in Alaska. Nelson is the most consistent barber I’ve found in Anchorage, have gone for years and always leave feeling fresh. Price is good, excellent value for level of service. Wait times can be long if there’s a lot of people in line for a chair so just be ready or come back later. It’s not their fault, and you don’t want your barber rushing just because they’re busy. Yankee II is also aight if you need a cut later at night or on Sunday.

Jose is a friendly guy and takes pride in his work. Be prepared to encounter a language barrier unless you speak Spanish. Cash is the only form of payment, no cc’s, but there is an ATM in the shop. This is more of a drop in and get served establishment as calling ahead hasnt worked for me. I’ll be back.

My neck hurt like hell I figured I just got irritated bad… I got home and looked in the mirror… Honestly they didn’t even trim the top of my head… I just handed him cash and split. The place really disappointed me for the reputation It suggests that it has.
