Before I decided on this place, I compared prices with multiple different salons, and it turns out they were among the lowest priced for a perm treatment. I spoke with Johnny (I believe) via text and he said the total would be $120-$150 (which I thought was very reasonable). Upon arrival, Chris (the hairdresser) quickly sat me down and after some discussion, we agreed on settling for $150 for the perm. (He did say he would do it for $120 the next time I visit to get it done!) It was my first time ever getting a perm and honestly, the experience is beyond satisfactory and the service was quick and no nonsense. I will most likely come back if I decide to get another perm! Thank you Chris and Johnny!

I’ve been trying to find a good hairstylist in NYC for 10 years now. After many disappointments and too many dollars wasted, I think I finally found my forever salon at XinYu. Thorough and amazing wash and massage, meticulous yet efficient cut from David. He pointed out what would work with my face shape, discussed length and type of layering since I like to tie my hair up often, etc. I felt really listened to while still receiving well thought out professional advice from him. Highly recommend! I always tip at these places (though I was never asked to) because it’s SO reasonably priced and the service is so good.

Today, I came to Xinyu Hair Salon, and I was really happy with everything. I will give the full marks for everything here. My hair was very dry and damaged, because I have dyed my hair too many times and didn’t have time to care for it. Then Johnny designed a new hairstyle for me and cut my hair short. I decided to color it here next time. Overall, everything here is very good, and I would recommend everyone to come here and have a try.

Chris cut and colored my hair and did an amazing job! The salon is clean, professional, and well run. I walked in that morning without an appointment and they were able to accommodate me. I especially appreciated not needing to keep up small talk throughout the experience, just Chris doing his thing while I read. The prices are reasonable as well.

I normally dislike traveling to Flushing unless I’m venturing to try something new. I also normally go get my haircuts on Bell Blvd but I feel I’ve already visited every salon on Bell and nothing comes quite close to how Jay at Xinyu handled my haircut. I hope he never leaves. I should hire him as my personal hair dresser just in case. I called at first to check if they were open but was directed to leave a voicemail. Bummer. However, a second after hanging up, I get a text saying they’re busy and will call back. So I proceeded to ask if an appointment was necessary for a haircut via text. I was told to just come in. Great! I was the second customer there. If you’re thinking of guidelines of safety, I would say you might be shocked as they don’t really enforce safety measures except everyone wearing a mask. I don’t know how they’ll do with social distancing as I was the second customer in there. The haircut looks amazing. See photo. Jay spent quality time on my hair and showed some serious TLC. I told him how I normally handle my hair, which I’m very low maintenance about. I also showed him a picture of which cuts I was interested in and he mimicked the style. What shocked me the most is, my haircut only cost $30. Given the length and price comparison to other places, this is by far the most affordable price in my experience. I would most definitely come back to color my hair if I decide to do so in the near future. Thanks, Jay!

I was due for a hair change since I dyed my hair in July. I wanted to go somewhere nearby and found Xinyu. Overall, great experience! I went in to change my hair color back to it’s natural state and get curtain bangs. One thing is when he shampooed/ washed out the chemicals, something was stinging my scalp… it wasn’t painful, it was just a hot sensation on my head for a bit. I have a pretty high pain tolerance so if anyone who has a sensitive scalp may want to ask what products they use.. Other than that, the two gentlemen who did my hair had an eye for detail, gave me a nice head massage, and executed exactly what I wanted!
