Sandy is the most conscientious and detailed hairdresser/ stylist that I have ever met. She is fair priced, she is efficient, and she is detailed and dedicated. I have never met a salon stylist like her. My first appointment, about a year ago, I was so nervous because I’m not happy with anyone who cuts my hair so she scheduled a consultation with me, at no charge, to ask me exactly what I wanted and she took measurements of my hair over my entire head. My hair is a challenge because it is curly. To this day she always makes sure it’s what I want before I leave and because of that she has a customer for life In Me.

Awesome salon! Came here after a hair color disaster with my old stylist. I was super paranoid about trying an unknown place but knew I could not return to my colorist. (see first photo – which was after the 3rd time my old stylist tried to get my roots right – in same appointment!) Second photo is what Sherry @ Woodward Ave did for me today. My natural color is strawberry blond and this new color is a great match while covering my annoying gray. Both Sherry and Kim have worked with me several times trying to get my natural (but going gray) red hair back to “normal”. I’ve had excellent base color and highlights here. What’s really surprising is how affordable this salon is! As far as I am concerned it’s Ferndale’s best-kept secret. I’ve tried the pricey/trendy places with unimpressive results. The down-to-earth ladies at Woodward Avenue did the best job – without the astronomical price! Added bonus – the super friendly and relaxed vibe that is missing at many of Ferndale’s salons.

I’ve been going to Sandy since I was a child and my mom has been getting her haircut by her since she was in her 20s. She’s an expert who can do pretty much anything, is very friendly and personable, and the prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend!
