Washington Square Studio is a collaboration among people who love hair, learning and each other. Like us, hair grows. Which means it provides a constant opportunity to experiment, explore or simply affirm how you already know you like to look. Every appointment is a conversation, and the first thing we do is sit down face-to-face. Your comfort is important to us, and we won’t start touching your hair until we have sat down and started a relationship. Together, we have created a culture that takes your joy seriously, and a world where the way you want to look is possible. Welcome, y’all.

Amazing smaller studio. All the stylists are very knowledgeable. The stylist I’m a regular of, Brandi always gives me the hair style that I wand and is great at cutting my curls. I’ve always gotten a great haircut here.

Incredible stylists for cut and color, their technical skill is unmatched and they always consult with you to come up with a plan for your hair and make sure that they understand what you are looking for. I’ve seen Brandi for years and would never go to any other salon.

I will not let anyone but Brandi cut my hair! But I definitely trust the other stylists here. Everyone is so friendly and nice, and they are following safety protocols and doing temperature checks before your appointment. They are keeping the number of people within the studio small, which is great! I know that they are disinfecting between clients and also sanitizing all tools in between haircuts as well. I have never had a bad experience here and I highly recommend! Love this place! The staff is all very friendly and they listen to what you want and give helpful suggestions without trying to make you try styles you are uncomfortable with.

Positive: Cleanliness, Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, ValueI went to Allie 2 years ago and haven’t stopped. She understands my thick waves and curls really well, and is always excited to work with them. It also puts me at ease to know that if I’m ever not fully satisfied with a look, (even if it’s due to my own poor communication,) I know I can be honest with her and she is eager to make necessary tweaks to make sure I’m happy.I also love Shane. I go to Shane whenever I occasionally decide to color my hair. She’s great for people like me who are either new to hair color or want soft changes that look natural. But I have also seen her work wonders with bold colors.I went to Allie 2 years ago and haven’t stopped. She understands my thick waves and curls really well, and is always excited to work with them. Critical: Professionalism, QualityI went to Washington Square Studio a second time to have black dye applied to my ends and across all of my bangs. I’d visited them previously several months ago and left satisfied and had no reason to believe they wouldn’t deliver again.I am neurodivergent, both on autism spectrum and ADHD. Some days I just don’t like talking and this recent visit (a week ago) was one. I looked at my phone the whole time, and avoided chit-chat. It now appears that was off-putting to the stylist.Beforehand, I clearly asked for my entire bangs to be covered in black as I was having an important in-person meeting the following day.The stylist only applied black dye on 3/4 of my bangs, leaving the purple roots exposed and where people could easily notice. The outer edges of my bangs were not dyed black at all. I didn’t fully catch this until after rinsing and while being dried. At no time did I raise my voice or speak harshly. I just looked at my phone a lot. I was eager to leave – so much that I asked the stylist if she would be okay if I let the rest of my hair air dry.I asked to confirm the price of $150, they said the glaze was only $75, I said okay and paid. I was unhappy, but paid and left without causing a scene.I planned to just let things slide and not go back to them in the future.A full week after the appointment, I received an unexpected and traumatic “going forward” email stating that I was no longer welcome and that this point was not up for negotiation.Besides already knowing that I wouldn’t return, the overt, dickish tone of their email was surprising and upsetting.Washington Square Studio should clearly advertise they are not comfortable with autistic clients on their website and socials, because it is painfully apparent they are not.Service: Hair coloringI went to Washington Square Studio a second time to have black dye applied to my ends and across all of my bangs. It’s been almost 10 years since I found a stylist that I absolutely love and trust to help me find the best cut for me. Until now, I’d taken to only getting my hair cut once a year, if that, just because I can’t find anyone I mesh with. From the get go Allie made me feel right at home and she took the time (almost 15 minutes!!) to talk through what I wanted and needed for my hair. Not only that, everybody at the studio was hilarious and it felt like being around old friends. It’s been about a week since my first haircut at Washington Square and I still love my hair as much as I did the day Allie cut and styled it. My husband said he loved my new hair before he even saw it because the first thing he noticed was how lit up my face was 🙂 This is a seriously gifted team and I’m so grateful my friend recommended them.

Went there for my first time and was super optimistic because I had heard only good things. I don’t trust a lot of people with my hair. I just wanted a small trim and fresh long layers. The hairdresser said my ends were pretty healthy and just needed a dusting. I was expecting like 1/2 an inch. When I got home I realized she had cut at least 1 1/2- 2 inches off and cut my front face framing pieces into chin length, uneven, chunky side bangs. I have been growing my hair out for years now and am very disappointed by the amount of length I lost and the bangs that I now have to manage. I wish she had clarified with me more about her plan so that I could have reiterated what I wanted. I guess if you plan on going in, make sure to clarify exactly what you want because I feel she took some liberties and I wish I could undo this haircut.

This is the first time in my life I have had a consistent hairstylist. Allie understands my hair and what it needs better than I do and every haircut has been awesome. She helped me through a pixie cut phase and growing it out elegantly, to long hairstyles… it’s been awesome.
