The vibes atmosphere of the coffee place was super chill and cool! Placed looked clean. My only complaint was it took a very long time to get my coffee. There was not that many customers at the time while I was there. After some observation I noticed two baristas. One was in the register and the other one cooking an making coffee. Please hired a chefs/cook that will handle the food portions and let the barista handle all coffee. Order an Americano and Honey lavender latte, perfection!

Stopped by Val’s to get a haircut on my way to Sedona. The place is a work of art, very inviting and cozy. The haircut was fantastic. I ended up ordering a lavender latte and a blueberry scone. They were both delicious. The whole experience was fantastic. Totally recommended.

At best I’m indifferent to haircuts and at worst I dread getting them. I can feel my blood pressure rising when I step into a barbershop, no matter how needed a cut actually is, because I’ve had a number of regrettable haircuts in the past from people who I felt like were more concerned about getting me in and out rather than listening to my needs. Val is honestly the 1st person I’ve met in years who I felt completely relaxed around and trusted. I came in with some photos because that’s what I’ve been trained to do, but Val looked at me and suggested something that was way different than what I came in for. In the end, I went with a medium length cut rather than short fade and I loved it. Technical skill is one measure of a barber, but listening closely to a person and providing a personal touch is rare. I’m truly looking forward to returning to Val’s workshop again soon.

I said it once, that Val’s is the best barber in town, but I feel like maybe I understated just how much I meant that. I feel like I cant say it loud enough. Even though the new place is only in its soft opening stages, it is exactly what Flagstaff needed. I went in today for a haircut with the new talent Val hired and A.J. surpassed any of my expectations. Val has succeeded in finding new barbers that, not only give great haircuts, but you can tell that it is their passion. He has created a cool and comforting atmosphere that makes me want to hang out longer. Once the coffee bar opens in the front of this place I can see that happening even when I’m not in for a haircut.
