Ashley did my Cezanne treatment and I love the results! As the owner of a tightly-coiled, hard-to-manage/detangle/comb excessively kinky afro with balls on my ends, I finally took Vivian’s (owner of Urban Bleu) advice about getting a second texturizer. She gave me one back in 2013, and it was wonderful, but because I was trying to avoid chemicals like the plague, I was scared to get another. Finally after a 2+ years of trying to go it alone, which led to excessive handling, hours of time spent each time I shampooed it, and more breakage and thinning than I cared to admit, I realized she was the only one who was talented, bold and creative enough to give me another texturizer without collapsing my curl pattern or compromising the health of my hair. Believe me, I checked around. After having SO many bad experiences with chemicals over the years and my desire to still rock a fro, I was terrified. However, Vivian spend a LOT of time explaining to/showing me how I was doing more harm than good with all of the rough handling that I had to do just to maintain/detangle my afro — each time I did, I lost enough hair to make an Afro Barbie! LOL However, no more — thanks to Vivian! After yesterday’s appointment, it is straight enough to comb easily, but yet kinky enough to stand up. It will also air dry without drawing up (so I can swim without having hours of work to get my hair to look like something). Yay! In the words of my sons, I have an afro reminiscent of Gina from Scarface, but it is still an afro! So to say I am extremely happy is an understatement. One last thing… I really appreciated the knowledgeable assessment Vivian gave about some thinning I was experiencing around my front edges and top of my head, as well as the recommendation of the Nioxin system, as well as her specific advice on how to recreate a wash and wear style at home. Looking forward to trying the products I bought from her and rocking my healthiest hair ever as I get ready to enter my 50’s. All that said, check Vivian and Urban Bleu out for anything from the most basic styling appointment to the delicate handling of a texturizer for those who want to rock their natural styles more easily. Believe me, everyone can’t do that! I know, because I checked! Will definitely be going back for color, texturizer touch-ups and the occasional rod set. Oh, I forgot to say Vivian is willing to experiment, which allowed me to see what my hair would look like dried with rods versus hanging loose all in the same appointment. If Yelp allows, I will post a picture. Signed — A VERY satisfied customer. It was worth every penny spent!
