I was so happy to find a salon that claimed to have experience with natural hair. I am used to Stylist being scared away by my hair’s thickness and length. I thought this experience would be different based on their claims on the website; however it was not. So I booked online with Jodie M. For a 9 AM appointment the Thursday before Christmas. I called the salon to get clarity on price ranges Dear Raquel Reed, appointment is cancelled with Urban Natural Temple Hills on Thu, Dec-23-2021 at 08:45 AM With Jodie M. due to: “Thank you for your interest in myservices. Best regards. to communicate the condition of my hair. The first red flag was when she said they would charge an extra $35 to detangle my hair. How do you wash natural hair and expect not to have to detangle it? She had an attitude when explaining that question and said that it needed to be in a state where a rat tail comb could easily go through it. I explained that that would never be the case for my hair because such a thin comb will always get caught. She still had an attitude when she said that she meant just the tail of the comb. I knew I should’ve canceled based on our conversation but stylists had such limited availability so close to Christmas and I really wanted to take a break from doing my own hair. Two days later this is the text message I received “Appointment is cancelled with Urban Natural Temple Hills on Thu, Dec-23-2021 at 08:45 AM With Jodie M. due to: “Thank you for your interest in myservices. I don’t believe I am the rightStylist for you, however here are someother references that I think will be a great fit for you , Paris is another stylist here at urban natural and she amazing ! Best regards.”Of course Paris had no availability. And Jodie should not have accepted my appointment if she was intimidated by my hair. I agree with others, customer service definitely lacks. My stylist is cool but is very heavy handed and seems to always be overbooked my last visit she stopped doing my hair to start on someone who came after me. I had to wait over an hour for her to start back on my hair I WAS PISSED!!! This is not acceptable especially since I booked in advance. I don’t recommend and I will not be returning since this seems like an very bad poor customer service habit and on top of that she wasn’t apologetic at all. I don’t do business like that nor do I tip for bad services.

Janel is AWESOME!!!! I only rate a 3 as management/reception can definitely benefit from a crash course in constomer service. As a consumer, when I’m spending my money (especially as a choice) I expect courtesy from the top down. I took a break from going, and I recently schedule an appointment on line. What I didn’t notice was that the operation had begun encouraging credit/debit for payment and cash for tips. I went to pay as I only had cash and they didn’t have change, I’m cool with that due to my oversight when booking on line. However, the way I was spoken to about the matter really had me feeling belittled…I got thick skin, but that caught me off guard. I’m torn if I still want to support the stylist due to not wanting to support the business…the stylist are wonderful and I have always had positive hair grooming experiences with them.

Was able to get a last minute appointment with Bayyinah. Very nice, pleasant stylist. Thorough wash and twist. My hair smells great! Clean, welcoming salon. I will return.

I would give a 5 star for the first four times i went, but this last one im not. The last left me looking like i got struck by lightning..my scalp was inflamed with blisters after i took my flat twist out 3 days after i visited the temple hills locations. $95 wasted and was never compensated or reimbursed. Im now trying to heal my front hairline after them. I had 3′ locs and natural all my life, then cut my locs and thought id continue to patron their business in the MD. I am hurt an just disgusted that as a hair establishment, you would think they would understand the insecurity this creates. I had to go to VA, for them to tell me what lack of care my stylist did and possible unclean equipment she used. I text my stylist and sent images, and was promised a refund, but she never stay true to her word. Im torn because i trusted my stylist to have the common courtesy, to make my time and hard earn money worth every penny. I would not come to the estiablishment unless you are clear that your stylist is educated in “REAL” natural and hygiene.

This place is awesome. I love the services and the products. They are no harsh chemicals (Lye or relaxants) or instruments (flat irons, hot combs etc.) that will stress or damage your hair in the building at all. Only good old fashion natural products, and talented hands that will have your crowning glory looking like a masterpiece.
