I very rarely will take the time to write a review. Sometimes, it is just plain and simply necessary. I have called so many establishments asking if anyone on staff worked with autism kids (cut autism kids hair). The number of responses that stated they don’t have anyone on staff that can cut an autism kids hair was disheartening. It seemed hopeless and I had just about given up hope. We happened to walk into Up North Kutz to see if they could work on my kids. They not only said they could but anyone on staff was capable of doing so. When you walk past this barber shop you may not think that one, they work on kids or two, sensory kids. Let me tell you that they do. They did amazing work. My kids have Autism, sensory Processing disorder, ADHD, anxiety disorder and ptsd. Mike and Angel both took their time and made my kids feel safe. They were patient and engaged my kids. Not only are they great with kids but they are easy to have a conversation with. I will say if you have a kiddo that needs extra considerations don’t book online. Instead, give them a call or better yet, walk in and talk to them. I feel blessed to have Up North Kutz in our community and neighborhood. It takes very special people to work with special kids and these guys hit it out of the park. We have found our barber shop to call home.

I called here same day an hour prior to closing to get my son a haircut for picture day at school. The barber, Jason, who answered the phone was able to get me in. He cut pretty quickly. I wasn’t feeling well so I didn’t look at the haircut too closely before leaving. Once I got home I took a better look and he did a horrible job. His lining is terribly jacked up. It’s no way the barber did not see this. What was a bit strange is when I paid Jason told me I didn’t have to tip. I think all professionals want to be compensated for providing great service. This is disappointing. As a single mom, who has been to at least a half dozen barbers in the area trying to find my “go to” who is courteous, will acknowledge me when I walk in not charge outrageous prices and will do a great job is like a needle in a haystack. I dread haircut time every month because of poor service like this.

Highly recommend these guys. They are my go-to barbershop, Angel is not only My barber but my kids. Excellent attention to detail, I always leave happy, looking much better than before. First and foremost this is not your basic barbershop. It’s a home away from home. The barber’s there are very friendly and professional. They do appointments through their own app! If you do end up waiting they have a nice set up which includes a pool table, arcade games, and big long sofa. To add to all these amenities they have a massage chair (zero gravity) which is freaking awesome. The barbers skill level is hard to match, and possibly THE BEST in the Stafford, Woodbridge, and Fredericksburg area. I take my son here as well and he enjoys it. All the barbers there are friendly with children and it always nice they make your children feel safe and comfortable. I try not to get to emotional doing these reviews and try to be neutral as possible but it’s hard not to get excited talking about this barbershop. Up North Kutz is veteran owned and operated so please show your support and don’t forget to TIP because these guys are the truth.

Mike is my go to person to get my son’s hair cut. My kid can be difficult but Mike is super patient and he’s funny too. He talks to my kid and gets him to relax. Plus the hair always looks on point afterwards!
