2 stars because I was very happy with Uncle Ernie’s until today. Disclaimer- this has nothing to do with the cuts themselves. On my first visit last year I was given a stamp card- 10 haircuts and your 11th is free. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but dutifully presented it after each cut and my barber always stamped it and handed it back. Today, I presented my card and pointed out that even though they’d stamped through the 10th spot, they had skipped number 5, so I needed one more and my next visit would be free. I was then told, “this is done” and the card was ripped up. I thought that meant they were going to honor the free haircut with my current visit. Not so. The barber then reminded me the cost was $25, and told me I must’ve “forgotten” to claim it on my last visit. When I tried to understand further, I was told “that’s not how it works.” I simply paid up and left. No need to cause a scene, they clearly didn’t want to honor this. Even after all of the good experiences, I don’t think I can return after being treated this way. A real shame.

This was my first barbershop haircut in over a year since Covid-19 changed our daily lives. This shop built plastic dividers around each barber chair in addition to having plenty of space between each barber’s workstation. The Barber used a medical mask while he cut my hair while I was wearing my own mask. What surprised me was how quick the Barber was at cutting my hair. I think it took no more than 7 minutes to get a complete cut which also included trimming my eyebrows. I wish I could remember his name as cut my hair perfectly. I will definitely be returning to this shop in the near future and I highly recommend this barbershop.
