I was here the day the client who gave the bad review was here and what she is saying is False! I have been coming here for years and she take very well care of my hair and every other client who sees her. That day the client who gave the bad review came in with her hair tangled and it took 45min for Marina to get her hair untangled and I watched clients walk out due to this. Marina is a beautiful person and she is very professional.

Critical: QualityI was going here for years and never had a problem with my hair reverting back to my curl state. I’ve been natural for my whole life. I went to college and cut back on the heat tools. Came back to town needed a trim ,so I went here. She had a fit because my hair was in it natural state (tight) curls. She advised me that I needed to detangle my hair before coming to her. I thought that was her job…also have to pay her a extra charge because I have African American hair. When it was time for me to wash my hair my hair didn’t revert back curl. I spent almost a year treating my hair and cut off the straight end. When I wanted my hair it smelled just like a Texturizer. Her and I both know that I didn’t get any kind of texturizer. My three girls, my sister and myself have received wonderful service at Tropical Hair Salon. We love the friendly atmosfere and have been more than pleased with the results of the hair services provided time after time. Marina is truly good at what she does. My girls and I have been going to her for years, and there was never a time we were left disappointed. She has always been professional and very nice to us. I have sent SEVERAL people to her who were very pleased. She is very passionate about her work, and takes care of your hair. I’ve seen the passion in her when customers returned and did not do what she advised them to do with caring for their hair. She was not rude or disrespect, but she was hurt. That said a lot to me. I can’t stand when people blame a beautician, especially a good one, for their lack of care for themselves. A beautician is not with you once you leave, so what you do afterwards matters. If you don’t HELP to take care of your hair then it will show. It’s a team effort. I’ve seen her work hard long hours several times and was not feeling well at all, and sometimes without any help. I always believed that you get what you pay for. So many people is always looking for a handout. Just like we work hard for our money, so does she. I’VE SEEN IT TIME AND TIME AGAIN. As far as her prices, mine has always been the same. She is ALWAYS busy, so I don’t see where over charging people would be a must for her. Trust, once she puts her hands in your head you will not want anyone else afterwards. She’s been my beautician for over 5 years now…..

Tropical beauty salon is the best salon to go to for blowouts! I am extremely particular with letting people do my hair and I left this hair salon with my next appointment on the books! The atmosphere is enjoyable with comfortable seating, while you wait. I will say that it is best to have an appointment because you can wait for hours just to get your hair done.

I’ll try to make this straight to the point. I have been going to Marina for maybe a little over a year now and I would say I have become a loyal customer. You can never go wrong staying true and loyal to ur “loyal customers”. I will say this, my hair has never fell below perfect! She is good at what she does but maybe too good for her own good. Are you suppose to accept mediocre or even down right messy customer service just because your hair is everything u want it to be? Well that is what I found myself doing. Since day one of being a consistent and loyal customer this woman could not do the same for me. She was never consistent with her prices and has RAISED my price THREE times since I started going a little over a year ago, and that is really not much time to have gone up THAT MANY TIMES. The notice is always random and out of the blue. She comes off as a nice lady but I think a tad manipulative. I didn’t think much of it this time around (for the 3rd time) but later on felt like If u were an appreciated customer you would know it and do I feel like an appreciated, valued loyal customer? NO I DO NOT and as hard as it will be to walk away, I WILL NOT be returning just to be played with as well as my money, I work hard for my money just like she does and I don’t make mine just to give it away to her!!. I’ve even sent people to her. There’s been a few times I turned down others when I could get in with her right away I just waited on her. A time or two, Ive made an appointment just to get there to be turned around knowing I don’t live local. I don’t know how there’s many reviews stating consistent prices and low prices or watever but maybe that’s just goes to those she choose and sorry to the ones she don’t because my prices started high just to get higher. The first 2 increases, for both my wash and perm went up just $5 both times (no biggie I thought, (but still not agreeing with the inconsistency) and for the last increase to be a $15 jump!! The devil is a liar and truth is THAT AINT HAPPENING!! She doesn’t even have one set price for her services, this is just too messy and all over the place for me! This could have been a 5 star review but I believe CUSTOMER SERVICE goes a long way “too good for her own good”

I have been to this salon for one perm and twice for a blow out. Everytime I have gone I scheduled an appointment and the beautician has been at least 30 minutes late each time and the last two appointments she was not present in the salon when I arrived on time for each appointment. The first blow out which included a wash, condition, and trim I was charged $45. 2nd appointment I recieved a perm, trim, and blow out $70. These two prices are reasonable and consistent with what I have been charged at other salons. Until this last appointment my main problem was that the products made my hair feel dried out and the beauticians tardiness. The last strike was my most recent appointment where she was 30 minutes late, I chose to wash and condition my hair with my products to prevent my hair from feeling dry. The only service I needed was a trim and blow out, minus the wash. After going back and forth with me with an about the product I used in my hair because she probably felt slitted I preferred my own product over her salon products; she charges me $57, when I previously paid $45 for the same service. To sum it up I will no longer patronize a place where my time is disregarded by chronic tardiness and I’m over charged for services.
