It’s my main haircut place when I’m in New Bedford, though sometimes I have some problems with them understanding exactly what I want I’ve never completely been dissatisfied with their service, also being Cape verdean & Portuguese, I’ve learned to respect cultural languages and such I can’t speak it but I am it.

My first time going there for myself. And it will be the last time. I went for dreads, and got the complete opposite. The style didn’t last a week before coming out. And she pulled my hair so tight. That it pulled out my edges. I have a bold spot, which I have never had in my life. I will never go back for myself.

Critical: Professionalism, Quality, ValueMy husband and I drove out to Brockton to find a salon to braid both of our hair. The salon we found had only one chair open and we wanted to be done at the same time. So I called around to a few spots and when I called Tropical I explained my situation to the lady and she coordinated with her other stylist to see if she could get us both in. They said if we got there within the hour they had a chair open for us both at the same time. We immediately left Brockton and arrived at their shop in New Bedford within 35 minutes. The woman even commented about how quickly we arrived. They then put me in the chair and immediately started to style me without even offering a wash/dry. My husband started to comment, but I told him it was ok anyway because I had washed and dried beforehand to save some time. However it would have been nice to have been given the option. My husband sat in the bench and waited the entire time I was being braided which defeated the purpose of our drive from Brockton to New Bedford. The woman who we spoke with over the phone took another client and left my husband to wait. I got two french braids with extensions and my hair came out beautiful so no complaints there. When my husband got in the chair he showed the woman two pictures of designs that he liked. It was two french braids with a design connecting the middle. He had to ask for his hair to be washed which she did with no problem. The design came out awful. The parts were crooked, the design was off center, the braids didn’t lay over each other correctly, it looked horrible from the back ( the two French braids came out perfect). Once we got in the car I took a photo to show him and he immediately called the lady who originally booked us but was too busy to take us and he texted her a photo of his hair. She said we could come back the next day and she would fix it. We drove back out to New Bedford the next day and she took out just the design which is what my husband wanted and left the two French braids, and it looked great in the salon. As soon as his hair dried there were giant flakes and pieces of glue covering the entire back center of his head from the gel being brushed out and combed back in without having been washed again. Once again it looked horrible. Needless to say 90$ later ( because of course , two drives to New Bedford later we were still charged for the design even though it had to be removed and replaced with a flakey scalp) we still weren’t satisfied. It was the most unprofessional service I’ve ever experienced in over 11 years of going to salons with my husband. There is talent there but it’s more like a mosh pit of self contractors than a unified salon with customer service. My husband and I drove out to Brockton to find a salon to braid both of our hair. Critical: Professionalism, Punctualitymy boyfriend has been getting his haircut here for a while and ive noticed the past couple of months that they are NEVER on time. i called to make him an appointment that he was on time for and the barber took a break knowing he had a client. last time we waited an hour for him to get in the chair. his haircut comes DECENT even though the guy rushes. but i personally think that it is very unprofessional to be booking appointments only to not honor the time slot. things happen but people make appointments cus they have things to do.my boyfriend has been getting his haircut here for a while and ive noticed the past couple of months that they are NEVER on time. i called to make him an appointment that he was on time for and the barber took a break knowing he had a …More

For the barbershop side the men are great at taking appointments and being quick to do a clean fresh cut. So I would give them Five Stars. However the salon side is absolutely not equipped with enough professional hair stylist to be a salon. I made appointments for me and my two girls for four a clock appointment with two women and got there at 3:45. My first daughter didn’t sit down until 5:30ish because one of lady’s last clients took longer than thought. The other lady comes over and says what do you want which I clearly stated what we wanted earlier when I was there setting up the appointments. We wanted hair cuts, but that girl is like “oh I don’t do those no more because I messed up so bad a girl had to come back two weeks later to get her hair fixed.” Omg, I was thinking dam this girl is whipped in the head. Why wouldn’t she originally tell me that from the beginning. Me and my three daughters waited forever. The prices on the board for haircuts are inaccurate and we didn’t get a wash there, we washed are hair before showing up so we wouldn’t be there as long. I would unless you are getting weave, crochet braids or braids go to another salon for women’s hairs cuts and styles.

If you want barbers that take their time and know their craft this is the place you want to go. I refuse to go to any where else. Best part all the Barbers are good, so if your favorites not around you can trust someone there has got your back.
