This was my first time at Mario in eight years. I moved back to the area and so I booked this visit a few days before getting married. It was awful. My visit first started getting a manicure. Not only was the work absolutely sloppy (even the hair color technician commented that it looked like a child painted my nails) but this lady set a poor tone for the rest of my visit. When I told her who was doing my hair, she responded with “oh, he’s doing your hair? Be careful, he’s known for cutting hair too short.” When I went on to the next part in my assembly line, highlights, this technician started with how she was having “a day.” And also though conversation about the nail technician, she stated “this place isn’t like it use to be. I’ve been here for 15 years, and now we are just like every other place out there.” When I’m spending this much at what is suppose to be a high end salon, these are things I don’t want to hear. This technician also told the next guy in my assembly line, the hair cutter, what the nail artist said about him cutting hair too short. So when I went to the hair cutter, he greets me with “don’t worry I won’t chop your hair all off.” And then each time I tried to express how I wanted my hair, he would respond with things like “this isn’t my first rodeo” and other quirky comments directing his sarcasm at me for the things the nail tech said about him. This was a horrible experience to have right before my big day. Each technician talked negatively about the others and each one, minus the hair cutter, talked poorly about The salon all together. At the end of my appointments, the manager took off the cost of my manicure, but did not communicate that with his front desk, and then was in a meeting when I was checking out so that led to further confusion and disappointment. This was the worst salon experience I have ever had. I would never recommend this salon to anyone I care about.

My bridesmaids and I got our hair and make-up done here 10/01/22. I would have to say that out of the other wedding prep experiences I have had, this was my favorite. I could be biased because it was my wedding day, but everything just went so smoothly and everyone came out looking amazing! We got to wait in the spa area for our appointments while we nibbled on some snacks we brought. Our make-up artist Stephanie was super friendly, knowledgeable and skilled. She did all of our make-up and informed us about everything she was using. I even got my own custom lip color which I look forward to wearing on future date nights! I usually go to Kelsey to get my haircut because she’s just so gosh darn friendly. She was able to get my hair absolutely perfect for my big day and I couldn’t be happier!

My experience was a mess. Originally, I called to have a digital perm done and they said they could do it. When they were starting I was told it was a chemical and it already wouldn’t give me what I was told over the phone. As it was happening, another hairdresser made a comment about the smell and made me feel bad. Then when I walked out, my perm was already falling flat and wasn’t curling like the chemical perm or the digital perm were supposed to. Half of it is straight like my normal hair and random pieces have awkward curls in it. Unsure if it was because there was no product and that was why, so I called back and asked if it was because of the lack of product or if there was anything I could do for the $350 haircut and the woman on the phone was rude and rushing me. I am disappointed with the perm in general and it’s not even what they said they could do. And then I asked for help and i was practically ignored. The length is alright though.

Kim did a wonderful job on my hair and gave me some wonderful advice on how to manage my frizzy hair. The receptionist was sweet, but didn’t give me the spa feeling like I was in a spa. Normally when I walk into a spa, I get greeted, checked in and offered refreshments. However, she did offer me a robe. I’ll be coming back for all my spa needs and I’ve already recommended it to a friend 🙂

I’ve been going to Mario in Crystal Lake for years now. I’ve got my favorite aesthetician, and my favorite person to color my hair. I know have a new favorite massage person, his name is Justin. He’s amazing. He knows exactly what where to massage, and has amazing technique. I’ve already seen him several times, and will keep going back to him.

Received a massage from Justin at Crystal Lake location, and was amazing. He worked out knots in my shoulders and applied great pressure. Definitely recommend booking a session with Justin you will walk out a new person.

Got a exclusive massage I had Megan she did an awsome job. She massage deep in the muscles and I most definitely will be going back. The only negative comment I have is the people walking by the rooms need to be a little more quiet.

Justin – Massage therapist- my back, neck and shoulders were very knotted up from computer work and tension. Justin was great at finding the problem spots and really helped to relieve the tightness, and my headache! I am glad I was paired up with him, Thanks Justin!
