I sent a request to schedule an appointment on Yelp and received a response within a few minutes. I scheduled my pedicure for 2 days out and was able to get my requested time of 4:00pm. There was no wait time when I arrived. This place is the epitome of good customer service. I was offered something to drink (multiple times) and cellphone charging (if I needed it).

I have been to topcoat since it opened a few years back and have never had issues with the services and employees. The owners would always ask how I was doing and always made me feel welcomed. But today I was not too happy with my experience. I called yesterday to book an appointment for today at 4:30pm. Today came around and the weather got bad so I decided to see if I can move my appointment. I called and they put me down for tomorrow at 5:45 and not even 5 minutes later called back and told me that they made a mistake (that happens!) and that was not available. I told the lady on the phone that I would come if the weather was not bad at the time of my appointment. I show up and one of the nail techs greeted me while another nail tech was doing the receptionist nails. They sat me down right next to the nail tech and receptionist. Immediately after, the two nail techs and receptionist began whispering and I could hear them. From what I heard it was something along the lines of Nail Tech: “did you know she was coming in here or did she tell you she cancelled?” Receptionist: “She told me over the phone she was cancelling” and then one of the three said “shh” maybe realizing that I was sitting right there and could hear every word they said. My feelings were very hurt and I honestly didn’t even feel welcomed anymore. I stayed and got my nails done and the nail tech asked me multiple times if I was okay and I figured maybe she could tell I was upset considering I was sitting right next to them while they were talking about me. To me, this is not right and if they wanted to talk about the misunderstanding to talk about it with me or wait until I left the salon.

Critical: Professionalism, QualitySo this was second experience with topcoat, my first experience was amazing, I got the orange mango pedicure about a week and a half ago and they did a wonderful job. I decided to let them have a chance to dip my nails as well when I normally go to another place on the West Bank. I personally like my dip thin, and I have a certain expectation of how they should be done and look more so if I’m going to spend $17 more dollars then I normally would at the place I normally go too. Well the guy doing them, I’m unsure of his name started to do them very thick, I told him from the beginning I like them very thin and I’m used to them looking almost like glass they are so perfect. Well I asked him to thin them out and he did, but they weren’t even. Some spots are thicker then others, it’s not smooth at all also the towel touched my hand when he moved it and dust particles got in the nail. He seen it and just kind of pushed it off and added another coat of clear which didn’t fix it. The guy left and didn’t come back, and the cashier checked me out. I didn’t say anything because I really don’t like to complain but once I got home my mom seen them and called and complained. She asked if we can just get a store credit since we love their pedicures but they said no to come get my money. Well when I went back I showed him the swirls and dust and how uneven it was and I was told “Well you should’ve said something before you left and not have your mother call and fuss at me.” I told them I don’t like to complain and get people in trouble but my mother was very disappointed in how terrible the nails came out. He then told me “Since we can’t make you happy go back to the place on the West Bank and we can no longer offer you any services since you can’t be happy.” I took my money and left. That is not how you treat a customer, more so when I loved the first experience and didn’t think the second was up to par. Workers here were very friendly and knew what they were doing. They fixed my acrylics that someone else from a different place had messed up, they will make u feel welcome. It’s very modern and clean there, a slight lemon scent filled the air. I had a great time there today.
