I don’t know anything about the place, II just drove by it and slowed down to see what I could see. Next time I don’t feel like cutting my own hair – having been a hairdresser for 38 years, It’s hard to hold my arms up long enough to do it right – I gotta say, I would probably go in and give them a try to see if they’re any good. I have challenging thick hair with no less than 7 different growth directions and 7 areas of different curl & wave & straight frizz textures. It’s hard to cut straight on your best day and it’s challenging to make it all fit and look decent when it falls. It is also very challenging to style and no one has ever been able to do that well. I’m 60 years old and have only had 3 good haircuts by someone other than myself.

I got a pixie cut I wasn’t too happy with when I first moved to Denton, a coworker mentioned Sandra at Top Notch. Please believe me, you will get an amazing hair cut and amazing customer service. I had been going for the remainder of my time in Denton, and I am currently driving from Dallas to come see her. I always have a new picture for her, and she will always let me know what will work best for my hair type. I have loved every single haircut I’ve gotten from her, and she has made it possible for me to be confident and feel cute with short hair. I have mixed feelings. I’m not usually very good at being specific about what I want done to my hair past saying something fairly general and leaving it up to the stylist which I understand doesn’t help but I did get more specific as we went along. I should have gotten her name but I found out at the end she was in the process of learning how to cut hair. It took legitimately almost two hours for her to finish. Her hand kept slipping and hitting my shoulders, she pretty much never repositioned my head like all stylists do and just went with the position it was currently in which lead to some awkward angles. It honestly seemed like was wasn’t sober. I don’t mean this as an insult or attack, I don’t judge when someone’s going through that and it’s very possible I’m wrong but from my experience it definitely seemed like it. It could have also been that she was nervous. She ended up messing up my hair pretty bad. Not from the standpoint of me not being specific enough about what I wanted but my sideburns not being even and that area of hair by your forehead not looking even remotely close to the other side. I tried pointing it out to her but she didn’t see what I meant even though it was quite obvious. She tried to fix it but after me awkwardly stating I didn’t like it twice, I gave up. I still have her a solid tip and didn’t say much of anything to her about it but I have never had a haircut take two hours just for it to be messed up this bad. During which the stylist slips and hits my shoulders a bunch. She even had a more experienced stylist come to check my hair and it would’ve been even worse if she hadn’t fixed the fade that she did that made me look like I had a bowl cut. Bottom line is she needs more practice before she’s put out there cutting people’s hair at full price and taking two hours. Nothing against her.

Their services aren’t cheap at all, most of their services have gone up by $10. Unfortunately, I was left waiting for over and hour when I had a haircut appointment with Sandra. She had another client whose appointment over extended in time.

I just needed a trim and he got a full on haircut. The lady that did our hair was so sweet, talkative and amazing with the scissors! She made our hair look great, and was fast with her hands. The salon looks really cool, and the ambience is very chill. My boyfriend and I decided to get a haircut here after reading all the good reviews. I just needed a trim and he got a full on haircut. The lady that did our hair was so sweet, talkative and amazing with the scissors! She made our hair look great, and was fast with her hands. The salon looks really cool, and the ambience is very chill. Everyone seemed to get along and it sounds like all the staff is biligual (spanish speaking) which made us feel really good 🙂 We’re definitely coming back!
