Be prepared in advance with cash for a tip!! Service was good and my gel pedicure is lasting really well. I really enjoyed the add on leg massage, that was extra. The chair was comfortable and the atmosphere was good. My only complaint is that the insistence on cash for tips is very out of touch for this time when no one ever carries any cash and being forced to pay via Venmo – when my pedicure was already over and I had no leverage – instead of my card was not appreciated. I did tip and I thought I tipped well. But if I’d known that was the only option in advance, I would have taken my business to somewhere that allowed me to tip via my chosen card without issue.

Critical: ProfessionalismI first started coming to Tina’s Nails in late February of 2020 when I had to attend a funeral in San Diego and my regular manicurist was on vacation. Tina did a nice job on my gel manicure. Several months later I scheduled a pedicure with Kim who (while outside due to COVID) did a great job. Initially they were very gracious and the service was nice. Over time, the service and their gracious disposition change. One time in particular I scheduled a 3 p.m. pedicure with Kim, yet when I arrived she was with another client. And when I asked how long she would be, I was informed 15 minutes. It took another 35 minutes. I wasn’t pleased about the 35 minute wait, but I let it go. I wasn’t offered any discount or anything, but Kim thanked me for waiting. Since the quality of Kim’s work was good, I continued to schedule with her occasionally, but a few months ago, she was sloppy with the polish and when I brought it to her attention, she abruptly removed the polish from one of my big toes and seemed to have an attitude. I figured maybe she was having a bad day. But this past week I scheduled a pedicure with Kim and while she was cutting my toenails, she only slightly buffed the top of the toenails and there was a LOT of excess ‘crud’ on the nail base. So I asked her to buff down some more and she got mad and said ‘you don’t come back to me again, I never do your pedicure again!’ I was so surprised that I didn’t even respond. Upon her finishing the pedicure… she thanked me as if nothing happened. I just sat there in silence waiting for my nails to dry. I believe Tina sensed something as her look towards me suggested kindness and concern. I paid Tina for the pedicure and tipped 20% and when I was leaving I asked Kim if I could speak to her.. she approached me at the door and made some excuse about me not liking her work and that I never tipped (which is NOT true as I always tip 20%). Rather than continue to engage her, I just left. I was appalled. Since when is it an insult to request your nails be buffed down more or that a messy polish job be corrected?I first started coming to Tina’s Nails in late February of 2020 when I had to attend a funeral in San Diego and my regular manicurist was on vacation. So I took my daughter for the first time to get her Nails’s and pedicure done at this location was a simple and she charged me way too much. She cut my daughter 3 times and she took 3 hours. The lady that did my daughters nails left her acrylics looking like blocks. It was over priced for such a bad job. They were not friendly or welcoming. When I walked in she made me feel like she was complaining cause she was working on her for 3 hours. I don’t understand why they would complain if we are paying for the service. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I will not be going back to this place! If I could I would give them 0 stars!
