I brought a photo of myself that depicted a past haircut I liked and gave it to Angela, the stylist/barber. She spent just short of an hour following it meticulously, with the result that she captured the style perfectly. I’ve never had a haircut that was priced so reasonably (yes, she earned a serious gratuity) and performed so well. Long as she’s at that shop & I’m in the area, I’ll go nowhere else. My first visit to Thunderbird Barbers was recent, and included over a year of uncut, pandemic hair. I brought a photo of myself that depicted a past haircut I liked and gave it to Angela, the stylist/barber. She spent just short of an hour following it meticulously, with the result that she captured the style perfectly. I’ve been getting my hair cut here for about a year. Moved from out of state and wanted to give my business to locally owned shop instead of a chain. My hair cut is a pretty straight forward buzz cut that takes 15 minutes. All went well until last week. I can count on 2 fingers the number of times I’ve arrived for an appointment where I didn’t have to wait a bit for the chair to free up…..either other customer finishing up or the chair was being cleaned up. No big deal…I never said “too bad, you’re late and I’m leaving”. I was 6 minutes late for my appointment…yes, 6 minutes. I walked in and was told that I would have to make another appointment and come back. I asked why. I was told there was a 5 minute late policy in place and I was 6 minutes late….1 minute over. Never knew they had such a policy, nothing posted anywhere, nothing ever mentioned before. I kindly asked for an exception since I never heard of such a thing and I was 1 minute past the supposed policy. I was told no. I said that was fine and I would not be coming back. They said that was fine too. In addition, they only take cash or checks in the hopes of keeping costs down (understandable). I walked out, drove down the street to Floyd’s, walked in, got a great cut for the same price, and was able to use a card.
