Massage Therapist
Ashiatsu-Barefoot Massage
It is an adaptation of asian massage treatment called “Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy”. “Ashi” means feet and “Atsu” means pressure. The Therapist cleanses her feet before she starts the session. It is a massage performed smoothly with the therapist’s feet as overhead parallel wooden bars provide balance as she works. This session can be modified from light pressure to deep to alleviate discomfort of tight muscles in large muscle groups. Anyone who likes a good deep tissue massage will want to try this Unique Treatment.
Ayurvedic Massage
The fundamental aim of Ayurveda is to balance the energies inside the body for your optimum health. To bring this balance, the practice of Ayurveda requires the massage therapist /practitioner to understand your unique “prakriti” meaning constitution-a unique balance of the three doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. For this the client is asked to fill out a questionnaire about their lifestyle, diet they consume, sleep patterns, personality strengths and weaknesses to understand the client better. By understanding our clients’ nature and his/her imbalances, Ayurvedic massage is customized to their needs.
Bamboo Fusion Massage
In Asia for thousands of years, bamboo has had an impressively wide variety of uses. bamboo fusion massageIt has been used in building, in making paper and books. Its roots, shoots and leaves are used for food and brewed into tea. Along with being an attractive houseplant, it has been commonly used in household items such as wall hangings, baskets, eating and serving utensils, chairs, fans, musical instruments and hats. Throughout Asia, bamboo has literally hundreds of practical and spiritual uses. Bamboo symbolizes suppleness and resilience, straightforwardness and simplicity.A recent and innovative use for bamboo is as a massage tool. The bamboo sticks hold heat and feel comforting as they are applied with pressure and movement to tight, stressed, spasmed muscles.
Deep Tissue Massage
Is deep tissue massage good for everyone and anyone? The answer is no. The reason being, not all of our bodies are built the same way. Deep Tissue MassageEvery individual’s needs are different, based on if the individual who is seeking a therapist for massage has undergone surgery or has chronic pain in neck, feet, back, low back, headaches or has been diagnosed with plantar fasciitis or fibromyalgia or if they just want to relax because they had a stressful day.If a client approaches us for our services, our intake process will include questions about their health history, surgeries they have had, injuries they had a few years ago, a few months ago and a few days ago.
Holistic Aromatherapy
In 1928, a French chemist coined the term aromatherapy, referring to the therapeutic use of aroma. Today aromatherapy is used in both spas and medical environments as a holistic method. The National Association of Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA) describes aromatherapy as “the art and science of utilizing naturally extracted aromatic essences from plants to balance, harmonize and promote the health of body, mind and spirit”. Aromatherapy is utilizing essential oils to bring harmony and balance to a human body, mind and spirit. Essential oils are concentrated oils extracted from the life source of the plant by the steam distillation process.
Kinesiology Taping with Rock Tape
Kinesiology is the study of the principles of mechanics and anatomy in relation to human movement. Lymphatic Massage
Lymphatic Drainage Massage is a Light Form of Massage. Modality Lymphatic Distribution. Our lymph system houses our immune system, the cleansing system of the body. When the lymph system gets congested, wastes and fluids accumulate in the tissues that hinder normal physiological processes. When the body needs help in removing the toxic buildup of cellular waste, manual lymph drainage comes to the rescue.
Myokinesthetic System
The Myokinesthetic System: (Myo= Muscle, Kinesthetic= Movement)The muscle movement technique that corrects and balances the nervous system.Aruna has attended all the training classes, consisting of 80 contact hours conducted by Dr. Michael Uriarte (creator of the Myokinesthetic System) and recently got certified in Myokinesthetic System.Aruna’s Main Goal Is To Help People Get Better. The Myokinesthetic System is a method to quickly and easily reset the body to alleviate (and eliminate) pain, restore range of motion, and improve posture. It is a unique and revolutionary technique that offers real relief for every patient and every client. I work with the soft-tissue muscular system to change the nervous system to treat the cause of the problem.
Oncology Massage
Aruna Had the Privilege to Work With Cancer Patients in Bethesda North Hospital for a Few Years. When Aruna had an opportunity to learn Healing Touch and serve Bethesda North Hospital patients as a volunteer, the experience helped her significantly. Then when she was asked to provide hand massage to oncology patients at the hospital, that experience helped her build relationships with the nurses and physicians. People who are diagnosed with cancer are poked, prodded, injected, and burnt by radiation. So when she would go into their rooms to provide a gentle, compassionate massage, the patients appreciate the compassionate touch and feel reconnected to their body, mind and spirit. That experience gave Aruna so much satisfaction knowing that she got to make a tiny difference in their life in a positive manner. She feels blessed to be in this profession serving these individuals
Precision Neuromuscular Therapy (PNMT)
Precision neuromuscular therapy (PNMT) takes time, because the chosen areas of importance are treated extremely thoroughly and thoughtfully. That kind of precision takes time. General relaxation massage systematically addresses every body part equally. In PNMT, the whole session is organized around problem-solving your particular discomfort. In general relaxation massage the receiver is often totally passive and can drift into neverland if desired. With PNMT, the therapist will need your input and feedback to discover where the restrictions are hiding. Solving a problem that has been going on several months does not happen in one session. With PNMT, plan on three or four sessions to see a real difference.
Pregnancy/Prenatal Massage
Pregnancy is a time in which a woman’s body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical, mental, and emotional changes. Using various techniques specifically for the new mother, the pregnancy massage helps alleviate discomforts experienced throughout the pregnancy such as pain in the lower back muscles, pelvis or hips from postural and functional changes.
Setup an Office Massage Chair Event!
Have you observed a coworker working at the computer desk hunched over for hours because they are working hard to successfully complete the project before the software release/project release date? Some of those individuals who are working with computers haven’t had an opportunity to relax their tight shoulders or lower back muscles as they have been in that posture for extended hours (sometimes even without taking a bathroom break or get up in order to take a sip of water).Seated/chair massage is less intimidating and lowers the perception of stress for the recipient as that individual is completely clothed. It opens doors to a lot of people by introducing them to what massage can feel like. The experience makes them understand how receiving chair massage relaxes the tight, shortened muscles by bringing oxygen back into those muscles and promoting a sense of well-being which in turn makes that individual more productive at work. It increases the flow of vital energy and alleviates
Sound Healing Therapy
Spinal Reflex Therapy (SRT)
Spinal reflex therapy is the only procedure that addresses the most prevalent cause of nerve, muscle, skeletal pain and dysfunction: the Spondylogenic Reflex Syndrome (SRS). What is Spondylogenic Reflex Syndrome (SRS)? Imagine a hot summer day and your friend throws ice cold water on your back. Your back arches instantly, your head and arms push it away, and your body leaps into the air to move you away and protect you.

Treating TMJ Dysfunction (TMJ)
Utilizing precision neuromuscular therapy to treat the muscles of the jaw helps individuals enjoy biting through an apple, carrots or bagel and enjoying the taste without any pain. Individuals with TMJ dysfunction, experience inability to open their mouth to their complete potential, pain around joints, ringing in ears and headache due to pain around jaw muscles.
Warm Stone Therapy Massage
If a therapist is working from an energetic point of view, he/she must take into consideration the vibrational frequency of the stones they choose. Many different types of stones are used, though the most commonly used stone is basalt stone since it contains very high iron which facilitates its unique ability to retain and evenly transfer heat. Iron has the property of strong grounding and it helps the therapist to focus energy in the body. The plumper and larger the stones, the longer the heat will last. Marble stones are used to pull heat out of the body. When using both hot and cold stones in a massage session, circulation is rapidly changed due to the acceleration of the exchange of the blood, lymph and digestive fluids. Aruna also uses textured river and ocean rocks that come in different sizes. If a stone is going to be moved along a client’s skin, it should be smooth without sharp edges or pits. If you are placing the stone in a client’s palm, it doesn’t need to be smooth.

Aruna is the absolute best! She has been a true miracle for me and my healing. I went to her with terrible distention in my abdomen that countless doctors could not help with. The distention effected how I looked but it also caused terrible anxiety because no one could help me get rid of it. She performs manual lymphatic drainage massage and MPS therapy which has almost completely taken away the distention and helped alleviate the discomfort on my abdominal muscles. I look forward to each and every visit with her as she not only helps me heal physically but she brings me a mental calm and peace.

I went to Aruna for Lymphatic drainage massage therapy after a surgery and was so impressed with Aruna’s knowledge and expertise of the body. Prior to scheduling the massages, she spoke with me at length to understand who I was and what my concerns/needs were, any bioindicators I had and the surgery details so that she could ensure she tailored the Lymphatic Drainage Massage to the particular areas I needed it most. She provided nearly as many after-surgery recommendations a my Surgeon and her guidance was spot on. After completing several rounds of Lymphatic drainage massages, I continued seeing Aruna for MPS Scar therapy to help improve mobility in a few areas where I was limited due to previous injuries and surgeries. Doing so has increased my range of motion and had many positive results. Aruna is interested in healing the whole body and has wonderful guidance and takes the time with each patient. She is an absolute treasure!

I had MPS therapy with Arun and already I have a huge change in my post mastectomy scar tissue. The skin all around the scar was tight and puckered before, and now the skin is so much looser and softer. I didn’t expect such immediate results. So happy and looking forward to my next session!

Aruna’s work has helped my recovery immensely! Her light touch messages have helped my recovery from surgery. She has also done great work with my scar. When I first started seeing her I was afraid to lay flat but within 2 visits I was standing straight, laying flat and walking at a normal speed. I highly recommend her to anyone for post surgery lymphatic massages. They do not hurt.
