Many disappointing experiences at Theory, including 1 stylist canceling 4 appointments in barely over 4 months. Starting at the end of Jan ‘22, my first 2 appointments were canceled last minute. I gave her the benefit of the doubt & booked a 3rd in Feb. Here, I explained that I wanted to do 1 or 2 sessions of demi-permanent dark color, & then go back to my current blonde for spring or summer. I’ve done this exact process at another salon before, no problem. She said that she thought I’d be shocked/unhappy with the dark color I chose, so she wanted to go lighter. I went along with it, & still tipped her 25% even though I wished she did the color I asked for. I ended up booking a 4th appt to get it colored darker, ie what I originally asked for. At this 4th appt, the stylist told me to text her to come in at no charge in 4 weeks (1/2 way to my next appt at the beginning of June) to get my color touched up. When I contacted her to do so, she said that she no longer wanted to add color if I was going back to blonde. I was confused by the mixed messages, but I went along with it again. When I came in for my June appt, she told me that she was not willing to bring me back to my former blonde. She said she only had me booked for 2 hours & it would take longer, around 4 hrs, & also mentioned wanting my hair to be healthy. I wondered to myself why she didn’t book me enough time bc we had established a clear plan at my prior appt, plus confirmed it in text messages. But, I told her that was fine & that I’d be happy for her to bring me as close to blonde as she felt comfortable in the time allotted. She agreed & went into the back. When she came back out, she stated that she didn’t want to color my hair at all & that the appt was canceled. I was so confused, as I felt that our entire conversation was very polite & agreeable. I left feeling very disappointed that I took 1/2 the day off from work for no reason & will have to wait weeks or months to re-book elsewhere. I also waited 45 minutes at the salon before she told me that she was canceling…the experiences all felt very unprofessional and inconsiderate of others’ time. Otherwise, staff is pleasant & the salon has nice decor.

I love love LOVE Theory. Returning to my home state of Montana and being in my first year back, I’m doing all the relocation things: dentist, doctor, eye, hair, etc etc etc. I was recommended Theory, and after having disappointing highlights done in LA, I instantly felt relief in first Trevor’s chair, and now Taylor’s. The location is downtown, and the vibe is great. Trevor is the owner, and really cares about his shop. My experience with Taylor has been incredible the past year – I finally felt brave enough to try color again, and Taylor worked with me. She took the time to get to know me, who I am, what I’m about. She studies the whole person as she begins to work with all things hair. I love that I TRUST Taylor. And I have NEVER found that, and I have had the best stylists in the world from London, Paris, the Middle East/NY/DC, LA. I couldn’t quite find my fit or my person. And finally, in Bozeman Montana, I found her and Theory! I feel like I can explore, be a bit adventurous in the future, try out different things. As an artist, I want and need the ability to work with a fellow artist on self expression and with Taylor I have that. As Fleabag says “Hair Is Everything” AND I am deeply bonded to Taylor and Theory. Just got complimented on my cut today by a fashion stylist…again affirming they know how to do a great cut. Also, with the growth stretch in Bozeman, I can’t even imagine the growing pains business like Theory are going through – Montana is Montana, and yet they are having high level global demands. They are growing and adapting with the changes, continuing their education, and staying at the top of their game. As you can tell I am a fan, and I don’t have to be, but 1 year back home, and I feel so happy to have my stylist who cares and matters to me! I love following Taylor Hair on IG!

I met with Jess and she was incredibly receptive to what I wanted and we had an open discussion about the expectations I had and what would be best for my hair. She really took wonderful care during my coloring and definitely went the extra mile for sure. I don’t exactly know what to ask for when getting my hair colored but she did exactly what I wanted, even with my hair being a bit stubborn to lighten after a box dye! She did not rush the process. She made sure to maintain my hair’s health and was very thorough. I’ll happily pay a premium price for a premium service; I paid $85 (plus tip) for a routine trim from a condescending stylist who was 20 minutes late. There’s always imperfections, but this experience is not deserving of the price IMO. Haircut
