Positive: QualityCheryl did an excellent job on my hair. She applied the Gina Curl hair product to my hair, she cut it and styled it. I was very pleased with the entire process and especially the outcome. I love how my hair turned out.I traveled from CA to Houston TX to get my hairstyle. I did research and selected Cheryl to do my Gina Curl and it paid off. From the onset she asked questions about my hair, requested pictures and requested I complete papers work with information about my hair. The place is very clean, the different business are respectful to each other and the owner seems very innovative. My stylist, Jackie, is amazing. Critical: ProfessionalismI am a doctor, a healthcare executive and data science officer w/ a top-20 IBM Watson healthcare system. I went to Suite Retreats Salon Studio in Katy Texas off of Highland Knolls to try and get a haircut. I had never been there before and least on the outside, they looked to offer a positive experience. I took my 13-year old daughter w/ me. No sooner than I walk in and try and find someone to ask about a haircut, than one of their elderly customers says “where’s your mask? You need a mask?” I said, I have an ADA medical exemption pursuant to 418.011. This woman then goes after my daughter and says “I suppose your daughter is too”. I said yes she is. The old lady – the customer – instead of minding her own business as, kept saying everyone is required to wear a mask – and kept making rude comments until I said “shut up” and one of the staff told me to leave. Instead of helping the new customer, she kicked me out because her other customer verbally assaulted me and my daughter. I reminded her that’s it’s a violation of the law and medical discrimination to push the mask issue – and that all I wanted was an appointment for a haircut. This staff member remained indignant and waved her hands in my face and said she “didn’t care about disabilities or the ADA or my rights “ and when I mentioned the $75k fine under Texas 418.011 she she “didn’t need my business”.
