Critical: ProfessionalismI had a much longer review drafted but it exceeded the character limit so I’m going to do my best:I started with a consultation appointment to make sure my hair could hold up to being dyed and possibly bleached and to find out if the color I wanted (a dark copper leaning red) was possible. I brought in 12 different reference photos, asked for it to look as natural as possible.In the actual appointment, my hair was bleached and colored. When she washed the color out…It was neon orange.I didn’t know what to think. The color was done well, and I didn’t hate it on me, but it’s much too bold for my personality and my style, it’s not what I asked for, and after I got home started to give me anxiety because it was so bright. This is where I am in the wrong: I didn’t say anything there. I am not a confrontational person, I have serious social anxiety that I am working on, and especially in this day and age I was very concerned about coming off as a Karen so I did what I normally do when I am in an uncomfortable situation: panicked, paid, and left.$240, btw. Plus a $20 tip.I came to terms with it when I got home and saw it in natural light. I wasn’t happy and wanted the color I asked for so I called the next day around noon–within 24 hours–and asked for a fix. The stylist called me back & told me that because we had the consultation appointment and because I confirmed the swatch beforehand, she did nothing wrong. I said that the swatch I chose had red in it, and my hair is neon orange, so she said she would have her boss call and talk to me the next day.When I got the call from the boss, the conversation went very back and forth. She repeated that because I had the consultation appointment and confirmed the swatch, they did nothing wrong. I asked why my roots were neon, she flat out said she didn’t know, then listed off a bunch of excuses. Nah, I know it’s because she bleached the roots first. I said there’s no red in here and it’s not natural like I asked for, she said I picked out the most unnatural swatch on the ring. So I said, fine, even if my hair does match the swatch I chose, if you all knew that the result wasn’t going to be like the pictures I brought in, why didn’t anyone tell me? She said she wasn’t there so she can’t comment on the conversation.I really don’t understand the argument that “especially because I had a consultation, the salon did nothing wrong.” Shouldn’t the fact that I went as far as having a consultation make it even more of the salon’s responsibility for getting the color wrong? I showed them all of my reference pictures and clearly stated what I wanted. Not once did the stylist jump in to tell me, “This is how you get this color,” or “In my professional opinion, this is the best procedure to take.” She laid out all of these different color swatches and all of the different ways it is possible to dye hair and told me, someone who has never dyed their hair before and had no idea which way would get me to my desired result, to pick one. And again, if they’re confident the color that is on my hair perfectly matches the swatch I picked out, why did nobody jump in during the consultation and say “No, that’s not going to give you the color you want.” I trusted your business as educated professionals to get me to the color I asked for, and you didn’t, but somehow the consultation appointment makes it my fault?I don’t think I’m being unreasonable? I just wanted to have a darker color put on top. I didn’t even ask for a full refund. Like I said, the color wasn’t done badly, it’s just not the color I asked for. And I did get my hair bleached and a hydrating treatment done, the stylist deserves to be paid for the three hours I was there. I asked for a partial refund to cover the cost of the color or something, and the boss just said, “We don’t do that.”Again: I understand that I should have spoken up while I was still there, but I did contact them within 24 hours. Positive: Cleanliness, Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, ValueJillian did an amazing job! i haven’t had my hair done since october and it was extremely grown out and unhealthy but I left the salon with my hair looking AND feeling amazing! 10/10 recommend! The rest of the staff that I had interactions with were also all great. Also, the hair washing sink didn’t break my neck so that’s always a plus!Services: Hairstyling, HaircutJillian did an amazing job! i haven’t had my hair done since october and it was extremely grown out and unhealthy but I left the salon with my hair looking AND feeling amazing! 10/10 recommend! Jillian did an amazing job! i haven’t had my hair done since october and it was extremely grown out and unhealthy but I left the salon with my hair looking AND feeling amazing! 10/10 recommend!
