My highlights service felt rushed and ended up more stripy than I wanted. I literally said I don’t want stripes and that I like it well blended. I also showed them a picture of what i wanted. This was done by one of their more senior stylists too… I won’t be returning. 3 stars because it’s not absolutely terrible and they offer customers water, tea, etc. which is nice.

Critical: Professionalism, Quality, ValueI am typically not one to do bad reviews, and try my best to leave good ones instead. However this salon and their very rude and arrogant management has led me to do so. I went in on Saturday requesting an auburn balayage (have provided the inspo pic below). Instead, I was given a very blonde, patchy balayage. I went home wanting to settle and not have to go back. However, after texting my stylist (who I will not name) and told her I am looking to add more auburn as it looks blonde. She had me come in the next day and only had the idea that she was going to TONE me… not add the auburn color. I told her my “money pieces” were pretty orange and that I’m not happy with them and would like them to go. She told me she didn’t have time to do that and that we would need to schedule another time… a week later. For paying over $300 I felt waiting a full week with choppy, ugly hair was absolutely not going to happen. She knew I was unhappy with my hair. I decided to go to another salon (Snapdragon Salon) HIGHLY RECOMMEND. They noticed my haircut was very choppy, and also said it themselves the money pieces were too thin and not faded enough at all. I called root today asking nicely (at first) for a refund because I paid $300 for something worth maybe $50. The manager was absolutely rude and clearly thought the situation to be funny. Here are some comments I received from him “let me talk” (said this after I corrected his false statement about my requests), “you took it upon yourself to go somewhere else because you needed it NOW NOW NOW” (um I gave the stylist a second chance but she “didn’t have time” and must not have completely understood what I was asking for. She wanted me to go GOLD not AUBURN). I started this conversation very calm and collected simply asking for either a full refund or at least half of it back. They are cheap, rude, ignorant, and highly unprofessional. If you are wanting something close to the inspo pic you have in mind, please go to Snapdragon Salon as it is very close to the root, you get a consultation before beginning, and time is put into the job. The last pics are what I received from Snapdragon. Pretty nice right!?Services: Hair coloring, HairstylingI am typically not one to do bad reviews, and try my best to leave good ones instead. I recently moved to PHX and was looking for a new salon. I read reviews and did research to find the root. I optimistically made an appointment for a haircut. I was pleasantly surprised that’s why I am giving this a 2 star. I decided to go ahead and book a color with a top colorist. I told him I wanted to enhance my bronde balayage and go a little blonder for the summer. He said ok and proceeded to turn my hair into a mosey brown disaster!!! I now HATE my color. Its not at all what I asked for and instead of doing balayage he did foils so my hair was a grand total of $400 which I never spend so much on. Normally its $375 in Seattle with tip from a Paris trained colorist. I feel ripped off and completely untrusting of this salon. I am planning on flying back to Seattle to have my hair colorist correct it. I don’t think I can ever go back here even with the fantastic cut. I initially thought I will give it a day or so and maybe it will lighten up but even my husband agreed it’s awful.

LOVE The Root Salon and Lauren!! She’s been taking care of my locks for 10+ years and I have a LOT of hair. It’s healthier, shinier and prettier than ever and I credit it to the care she gives it. The salon is beautiful, always clean, staff is friendly, polite and on time. The Root Salon keeps up with trends as well as helping clients have healthy hair.

Customer service was great. They attended us quickly and offered us beverages. The salon is clean and has a modern interior design. Scheduling was easy and they call you a day before to confirm your appt. My stylist Dayna (probably incorrect spelling) was great. He did a deep conditioning treatment in my hair for my super dry curls. He was very friendly and offered me tips on how to keep my curls looking healthy. After he was done, my curls looked moisturized and thick. My mother’s hair stylist, who’s name I don’t remember, did an okay job. My mother asked for her hair to be straightened, but the stylist, in my opinion, did a lousy job. Idk how you manage to mess up something so simple. A large section of hair looked like it hadn’t even been touched with the straighter. For the price I paid, I expected a better job. Despite this, I am considering booking another appt in the future, but with Dayna only, most likely.

After a rough work week, I made a last minute appointment on Friday, November 5 for a haircut to refresh my look. I showed up a few minutes early and was offered an array of beverages which is a nice touch.
