Two of us called and booked a 90 minute facial and a 90 minute massage (so 4 services total). When we showed up they had only booked one massage and one facial. They were completely unapologetic about the mistake and had an attitude about it that said “deal with it”. Very rude and would NEVER return.

I would like to start with how nice this place is decorated. I was told it is basically brand new within the last 5 years. It is very clean and presentable. I made my appointment and came in with horrible neck and back pain. I was greeted excellently and offered coffee or tea. It wasn’t long before I was on the table and being worked on by healing hands. I think this was the best massage therapy experience I have ever had. Everything was done at a high level of professionalism and medical performance. I really appreciate what they did as I am a non resident out of towner who was seriously in a bind. Bonus; they are open on Saturday. M.T was priced very reasonable. I was back to normal within 36 hours thanks to Gunners healing hands.

I love The Retreat so much! My whole family gets their hair cut here and Joy is so great with my toddler. I have also gotten a pedicure and prenatal massage here. The atmosphere is so relaxing and the staff is very friendly.

Very nice spa that also does men’s haircuts. You are treated very nicely from the beginning – I was offered drinks when going to get my haircut, the staff was extremely kind and friendly, and they did a great job on taming my hair! I love that, in true Alaska fashion, there is a spa dog that is always there. Men, don’t be discouraged by the fact that this is a “spa”. Treat yourself and go check it out!

I came here for an updo for my wedding day. I’m from Ohio and made an appointment months in advance – Jou was nice enough to agree to do my hair without a trial run since we would be arriving in Seward and getting married the same day! I emailed her some pictures of my hair and the big day came- and she blew me away! Joy is incredibly talented and all the staff I encountered were so kind and gracious. Joy really went above and beyond in making my day even more perfect! I can’t recommend her and the Retreat enough!
