Positive: Cleanliness, ProfessionalismI absolutely love going to The Outer You. They are excellent in everything they do. I now go to Liv & also love Angie. Liv does a fabulous job with my cut, highlight, & style every six weeks. She is detailed, fun & listens to my wishes. My hair always looks polished & professional. Many people ask where I go and end up finding the same excellent service. Even people who have asked me in Richmond now drive here. Liv was trained by Angie and they are both amazing!Also, I am always grateful how Casey helps get me in with my tight schedule. This salon is extremely professional. They are consistent, listen to my desires, look at new ideas, and keep me in trend. I wholeheartedly recommend this friendly and inviting salon. You will love it! I absolutely love going to The Outer You. They are excellent in everything they do. I now go to Liv & also love Angie. Liv does a fabulous job with my cut, highlight, & style every six weeks. She is detailed, fun & listens to my wishes. My hair always looks polished & professional. Many people ask where I go and end up finding the same excellent service. Critical: Quality, ValueI was new client who came in for a balayage. It had been a while since I had gotten my hair done, but they knew that prior to my appointment. As a new customer, before we got started, I was not asked what types of shampoo/products I use on my hair, which is a bit surprising now looking back. After the 3+ hour process, the balayage did not take to my hair at all. The owner then came to my chair and did a test for a wax coating on my hair. Sure enough, it was on there. She even said she could feel it in my hair before doing the test. It would have been nice if they had tested for this beforehand. I was then told that we would have to schedule another appointment to get treatment done and re-do the balayage since my hair color was unchanged. This was fine with me until we discussed payment. The lady who had attempted to do my hair told me that I shouldn’t have to pay until next time. However, she double checked with the owner, and she told me I had to pay $100 due to the product they had used on my hair (I would also have to pay full price for everything at the next appointment). NOTE: My hair color did not change AT ALL. They, the professionals, had failed to ask me, a new client, about the history of my hair and what products I use before starting the process (I had no idea the shampoo I used was actually leaving wax in my hair). I did not argue about paying the money, as I was very disappointed and ready to get on the road for my hour drive back home (yes, I went out of my way to try this salon). The girl who tried to do my hair was very nice, but unfortunately, the insane amount of money I had to pay when my hair was unchanged was a huge red flag to me. I will not be going back in that I’m afraid that if they still can’t get my hair to change, I will still have to pay $100+. After talking with a few other hairdressers, they agree that I should not have had to pay at all. I was new client who came in for a balayage. It had been a while since I had gotten my hair done, but they knew that prior to my appointment. Angie is great at listening when I want a change and always talks through what she wants to do with my hair. She has taken me from a dark blonde all the way back to bright blonde highlights.
