I went here on a friend’s recomendation. I was very pleased with The Hair Shop. Maryann is the owner and she did my hair. I was in need of color and haircut. I was very happy with result. We talked about what I wanted and style. She was pretty accurate with what I wanted. The shop is clean, staff friendly, and located close to home. A very nice shop that is a hidden gem! Last night it happened to my 2 year old daughter, Piper.The ladies at The Hair Shop in South Amboy graciously answered my panicked phone call and transformed her self inflicted side mullet into a tasteful pixie.They were so accommodating, especially since it is so close to Christmas. Plus they worked to be comforting and calm with Piper who had never had her hair cut before. We will be booking her (intentional) next appointment with them to keep up with her hair growth. After recently moving to NJ from NY I desperately needed a haircut! After spending a long evening researching the internet for hair salons I came across The Hair Shop in South Amboy. I decided to go for it and nervously entered the salon. To my relief I was so warmly welcomed and acknowledged by all of the staff and owner. That was a good start, now came the work, hehe. Nikki listens and has a good eye for detail. She has special tools that allow for a special touch. I usually don’t like to talk when I get a hair cut, but I enjoyed chatting with the staff who is super sweet. They want your business, but don’t seem to really need it. What a good find!
