I have never had a worse experience with a stylist or hair salon than the one I had here this week. I’m very sad to say I left my appointment with the stylist Megan the other day absolutely devastated and heartbroken at the loss of my hair I’d spent the last 2 years growing out to at least ten inches in length. At the appt. I told her I wanted to keep the length on top but extend the undercut I already had on one side of my head around the back and other side. Think fantasy warrior realness – long hair on top for a braid or a mohawk but shaved sides, maybe faded down gradually. Shaving the sides went fine. She then started with the scissors in the back. I assumed she was trimming some dead ends. To my horror, she then took a handful of hair in her hands, pulled it straight up and cut off at least four inches in one go. She never asked me even once anything about the length I wanted to keep on top of my head and I never indicated in any way I wanted to remove any length. I couldn’t understand how she could think I would come in with past-shoulder length hair I’d clearly spent years maintaining and think I wanted it removed without being specifically told it was what I wanted. I was in utter shock and didn’t know what to say. I kept trying to tell myself I was “only hair” but the damage was already done the moment she started chopping.
