Critical: Cleanliness, ProfessionalismI had to walk out. I scheduled an appt. with Bernadette on 1/6/22. I’m moving here from New York and was searching for a new salon. I read good things about Bernadette, and despite pictures of a botched highlight job from another review, I thought the owner offered to redo it, which was right and fair.When I walked in, I noticed that whomever was behind the desk was not wearing a mask. Then I noticed that the client was not wearing a mask. When Bernadette looked up, she wasn’t wearing one either. Neither was her client or the other client sitting next to her who coughed, and I’m not exaggerating this point, four times in the approximately 120 seconds I spent in this establishment.When I asked Bernadette if people wore masks, she replied that masks are not required. I told her I was not comfortable with that, and her response was, “OK. See you. Bye. Bye.” What confounds me is that she didn’t even offer to wear a mask, which is customary. She might as well have well said, in her perky, friendly voice, “Buzz off. We don’t care. We don’t need your money or your business.” So, I didn’t get my hair done there because I wasn’t about to sit next to someone coughing over and over, nor was I about to have someone be that close unmasked. So, if you’re looking for a salon WHERE EMPLOYEES DO NOT WEAR MASKS, nor DO THEY TELL YOU THIS WHEN YOU BOOK AN APPOINTMENT, this salon is for you.This might be called The Hair Salon, but it will certainly never by MY Hair Salon.Even if we’re all bound to get COVID at some point, I’m certainly NOT INVITING IT by refusing to wear a mask and compromising the health of others.Here’s what CT.Gov states regarding masks:WHEN ASKED IN PUBLIC OR PRIVATE – Everyone needs to wear a mask if they are asked to do so in a public or private establishment, if required by their employer in their workplace, or when organizers require masks at any event.That includes your business!I had to walk out.
