I’ve been going to this salon for a couple years now and I love it. Marquisia knows how to cut her behind off and whenever i go to get layers or a trim it looks amazing. She also presses my natural hair as good as the Dominicans use to and I never suffer heat damage. Last time I went I got half highlights and got compliments for months. I am going back next month to get layers and more highlights. Hope to continue going for a long time!

I’ve been natural for 8 years, and I’ve never straighten my natural hair. I typically do not go to a salon, but I desperately needed my hair to be cared for. I looked up salons in the area, and this one had a good rating. So I decided to check it out. Unfortunately, I did not have the best salon experience at Hair Marqui. I was so focused on needing my hair done that I ignored the red flags on the actual service. My hair needed to be detangled prior to washing, and the girl combed my hair dry. Eventually, she realized that she needed to damp my hair first. Clearly, the girl did not have knowledge on taking care of natural hair. I decided to let it go, and continue with the process. She caught her mistake, and I wanted to give the salon a chance. Fast forward to the Stylist, I love the hair stylist as a person. She was very interpersonal. She connected with clients very well. Therefore, I felt comfortable, and felt like I can trust her. I was getting a braiding style. I asked her has she worked on natural hair before, she said yes. When she was braiding my hair, I felt like something wasn’t right. She decided to straighten parts of my hair with a hot comb so the outcome could be neat. She assured me that I wouldn’t get heat damage from it. She was the professional, so I went along with it. The braiding style looked nice, but I wished she took the time to close the ends off. Some the braids were not completely sealed. A few weeks later, I removed my braids and washed my hair. Guess what, I got heat damage in parts of my hair . I would not be going to a salon ever again. Unfortunately, that is not the right salon for me. It sucked because I spent years avoiding direct heat, then BOOM! I get heat damage. If I ever go to a salon, I would like to go to a salon that is knowledgeable with 4c natural hair, and my hair can truly be in great hands. I hope my experience helps other naturals.

I did a general search on salons in the area and decided to try this salon because of the reason prices that were listed on the website. I called and the owner answered and gave me the information I needed and I was able to come in the same day. She placed with one of her new stylist, Alex. This young lady was awesome! Very accomplished and polished. The owner has set great standard. I’ll definitely be back!!!
