I gave it a try based off the live video footage of the many different hair styles. The atmosphere was wonderful, calming, peaceful and clean. When you walk in most of the stylist just stare at you right away but the head in charge greets and make you welcome. Mimi has a great set up and seems to know what she is doing to get you in that seat and out as quick as possible. Unfortunately I ended up with bad ends on my knotless braids. I was truly tramatized by this and was not expecting that. Stylist Yaa started my braids but was not the one to end them. So, the start was great! I went back about 5 days later for a fix by the owner Mimi and still bad ends. Once again I thought I was gonna be good this time around. The braids look good when dipped in the hot water after braiding is done. It’s when they dry and you home and actually taking a better look and discovering that you paid $240.00 for bogis ends. Not cool! Like I said there are several stylist in in the shop so I let my daughter go get soft locs by Yaa which are beautiful. 3days later 1 of the soft locs came out. Her style was $200.00. My pics start off with the braids still wet and same day getting them done. Lime green shirt are the dry braids and the yellow shirt with white letters is suppose to be my fix smh. I gotta admit that the spiritual energy in Mimi’s Braiding Bar feels so good that I will be going back to try one last time. I really like Mimi’s set up and the way she function. Although my ends for my knotless braids did not end professionally this is the reason for my 1star review and that’s all I can be

I went to Mimi’s braiding bar for the first time, and I was very impressed with the communication prior to my appointment. When I arrived, my stylist began promptly, everyone was polite and friendly. I was able to get some work done during my appointment, and was surprised at how quickly my hair was done. I wanted a specific blend of color, and my stylist did it perfectly!! I love my hair, and would absolutely recommend Mimi’s Braiding Bar! I’ve already received so many compliments, and referred friends looking to get braids soon.

I just moved to the Romeoville area and was looking for a new salon for braids so that I did not have to travel all the way to the city. This salon is maybe 2 minutes from my home so it was so convenient. I had a 7am appointment. I am used to braiders being late, especially with such an early appointment but there were MULTIPLE braiders already there and set up. I was so surprised and really happy. I love good service and depending on how long I would have had to wait if someone was late would have made up my mind if I was coming back. My braider, and it’s unfortunate I cannot remember her name, she was amazing. So personable, lively and all around a beautiful woman. She completed my hair in about 5 hours (butt length small knotless braids with wavy ends). I absolutely LOVE my hair and received so many compliments.I have an appointment scheduled with them today to take my braids down (yes they provide those services as well) and then Saturday I’m getting my hair braided again in a different color. I had an appointment with Mimis Beauty Bar on October 30. I just moved to the Romeoville area and was looking for a new salon for braids so that I did not have to travel all the way to the city. This salon is maybe 2 minutes from my home so it was so convenient. I had a 7am appointment. They are thoughtful and considerate when giving the braid style wanted, offering good advise on hair type and color to purchase , practicality of style wanted, given condition of person actual hair. Extremely fast, neat service. Everyone is super friendly and the shop is clean + decorated nicely. Comfortable chairs which helps when you’re sitting for a while. I’m picky about who I let touch my hair but it’s never too tight and my edges aren’t pulled too hard when it’s finished. My hair always looks great regardless of what I ask for and my knotless braids last long!

Saturday was my first time at Mimi’s beauty shop, Mimi did my hair she was very professional, she worked fast with my braids and they are very neat, she managed to do my hair run and business and made sure her other clients was being serviced to. Her staff is very friendly everyone greeted you when they came in. I give this shop at 10/10 I love the atmosphere, I loved the professionalism and I loved even more how Mimi did my hair, I have got many compliments already and I will be back.

I was very pleased with my overall experience with Mimi’s Braiding Bar!! This was my first experience with the company as well as having braids. My hair was damaged from a bad chemical experience and had thoughts of having knotless braids installed. After Mimi and another stylist (Debra?) assessed my hair, they recommended box braids and a stylist who specialized in such hair issues. I did not experience any judgement or negatively. Yah? ( stylist) was extremely professional, kind and courteous throughout the process. She often asked about my comfort and explained the process. Each assistant braider was kind and courteous. Given that this was my first time ever having braids, I was very pleased with the process and end product. I highly recommend Mimi’s Braiding Bar. Also, my braids are NOT tight causing head soreness as I have heard many individuals report.
