The Barber’s Chair

Positive: Cleanliness, Quality, ValueOk, so I’ve been looking for “the barbershop “ for quite a while now. You men know what I’m talking about. A quality place without the assembly line feel of SportClips, without the out-of-place feel of a salon, but with that old school feel with a touch of modern. I have tried several places and have left under impressed with all. A friend of mine recommended this barbershop and I went in for the first time today. They didn’t meet me at the door with a gushing hug and ask how everybody was. Good. We are men. The barber closest to the door gave me a nod and I sat down. There was a wait, and I listened to the talk around the shop. Mostly about wives and what we were doing for Valentines Day. Some about deer hunting, which I know nothing about, but enjoyed anyway cause it seemed to fit. When it came my turn, the second barber nodded in my direction. I sat down in the chair facing a welcoming fireplace and watched Fox News while he expertly gave me my fade and hard part. When I was finished, I had noticed everyone paying in cash. I asked if they took cards and he said “nope, just cash.” I offered my drivers license until I could go find a ATM, and he replied “that’s ok.” I returned with the cash and he smiled and said “come back and see me.” I definitely will. It was simple, he used a wonderful smelling pomade on my hair after shaving my neckline with warm shave cream, but didn’t try to push products on me. It’s a men’s barbershop.
