Positive: Cleanliness, Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, ValueI finally found a hairstylist who understands curly, LOTS of thin hair, 2c/3A curls, and most importantly, how to cover GREY HAIR (ALL of it!). Alex listened very well regarding my negative experiences with other salons, and she did not disappoint me. She is professional, understands coloring and texture, and ensures that my hair will be soft and manageable after color. Amazing JOB!!! See pics. The color is fantastic, and you cannot find one grey on my head. My hair is about 30% grey, and you cannot tell. She will take her time to make sure your hair is the perfect color, style, texture, etc… Worth every penny! Please note she did not place any relaxers in my hair. Alex listened very well regarding my negative experiences with other salons, and she did not disappoint me. I’ve been coming here for about three years and Alex has made in my hair different styles short, long, blond hair and dark hair as well and always I have been very satisfied with it, also she provides me everything that my hair needs to me healthy. Critical: QualitySTAY AWAY…..This was my 1st time going here. My hair is natural the texture of 4c hair to be exact. I normally wear my hair in its natural state but decided to come here to get it done. I have been to other Dominican shops in the past & have never experienced anything like this. I only get my hair straightened twice a year. After 3 weeks of having my hair straightened I washed it. Upon washing my hair I noticed a foul smell coming from my hair that smelled like relaxer. My hair super straight now & will not go back to its curl pattern. I also have extensive hair shedding now.You all should be ashamed of yourselves to put relaxer in others hair without notify them. I’ve been natural for 10 years now & have never experienced anything like this.Please stay away from this salon!I tried to add a photo of the damage they caused my hair. My hair has been coming out really bad & what used to be a beautiful fro is now thinning out. STAY AWAY…..This was my 1st time going here. My hair is natural the texture of 4c hair to be exact. I normally wear my hair in its natural state but decided to come here to get it done. This is the first negative review I’ve ever had to write in my life, but my experience with this place was not a positive one. I went to this salon with the intention of getting a simple blow out and trim. My hair is natural, but I like to go to the Dominican salons once a year because they usually do a decent job on my hair. Long story short, I decided to try this place for the first time. I was very pleased with my hair when the stylist was done. Although the way she requested a tip rubbed me the wrong way, especially now. Anyway, about 3 weeks later while washing my hair, I noticed there was a foul sulfur- like smell coming from my hair. It smelled exactly like a relaxer would. I also noticed that my curl pattern had changed significantly. It was much more loose and silky. Mind you I’m atleast a 4b, if not 4c. It wasn’t until my a recent wash that I started noticing EXCESSIVE shedding. Entire curl strands were/are still falling from my hair with the slightest comb through and it’s been atleast 2 months since I’ve seen them. Ive also got some heat damage as well. I’ve heard about some of these Dominican salons slipping relaxer into the shampoo, and I think that exactly what this salon did with my hair. Now, judging by all the positive reviews, I’m sure many people have had a positive experience with this place. However, I was the unlucky one. I would not recommend you get your hair done here, especially if you are natural. If you do decide to risk it, please make sure you ask about the products they’re using on your hair. I’ve never had an experience this horrible at a Dominican salon, but because of them I will never return to another one. Be careful ladies!

If you want a salon with talented and friendly stylist in a relaxed environment, then you shouldn’t look any further. Nerenys has been my hair stylist for 4yrs and even followed her from her old salon when she partnered with Alex. Only she can make my hair feel, and look amazing. I happily recommend Alex Dominican hair salon.

I’m forced to do a big chop again on my hair after being natural for years. I have contacted the Salon state board and Better Business Bureau(BBB) on this salon. I will seek legal action if need be. The salon has yet to respond to the BBB in reference to my complaint. You all are wrong to put relaxer in clients hair without their knowledge. So here’s and update from my last review of my visit october 11,2020. I have had to cut my hair off. My hair would not stop coming out in chucks after trying everything. I’m forced to do a big chop again on my hair after being natural for years. I have contacted the Salon state board and Better Business Bureau(BBB) on this salon. I will seek legal action if need be.
